Butley Orford Oysterage in Suffolk Coastal

Excellent oysters (they have their own beds,) and superb skate in butter. The reasonably priced Chardonnay was also delicious. We enjoyed the hot smoked salmon salad which had a wonderful dressing.

Apart from the staff who were amazing, this place is a joke. Like most of this part of Suffolk these days, it caters to people with more money than sense. In pretty dismal surroundings worthy of a greasy spoon I paid £19 for a Brakes Bros quality fish pie served with, guess what?, Potatoes! I followed this with an £8.20 cheesecake which had no flavour. The locals were pretty miserable too, complaining that we parked outside their houses. Seems like these Johnny come lately second homers want to live in a quaint village but don't want anyone else to visit!

We had absolutely brilliant service and food here. The restaurant had a nice style and the servers were very warm and friendly.They were accommodating to my gluten-free diet and it wasn't a problem for them. I particularly liked the Oysters (the clue is in the name, I guess) and liked that they had a variety of local apple juices. It was a lovely addition to the soft drinks choices.I thought the staff did especially well as they had a busy restaurant of customers plus a private dining group upstairs, and service did not seem to be impacted by this at all.Parking and getting to the restaurant was a breeze and it's a beautiful location to explore in the day.We were on holiday but would return to eat here if we visited again.

The freshest oysters in England! Great fish and wonderful cosy atmosphere. A good idea to book in advance though!

Amazing sea food, decor a little old fashioned but don't let that put you of the amazing fresh seafood on offer.

Fantastic seafood restaurant! I had their own smoked fish selection with whitebait to start. Everything was just as delicious as I'd hoped and the staff were friendly and attentive. The price very reasonable too. A Suffolk jem!

Excellent food, excellent service, great fish and shellfish menu especially the platters giving small tastes of a variety of produce. This is my daughter's favourite restaurant and a must when we are back in Suffolk.

Great. Oysters. Huge and oh so fresh. Very basic interior. Friendly staff. Crab salad was nothing special. Lovely village with great walks all around.

AMAZING food as always! This is one of my all time favourite restaurants, and one of the main reasons we come to Orford. I love the retro vibe and the beautiful mix of seafood. It is a must for any seafood lover! Also staff are extremely friendly and kind.

One of the best worst kept secrets in Suffolk and some of the best seafood this side of the med. A reconfigured layout for lockdown actually improves the experience space-wise in this delightful relaxed café-restaurant. Staff are wonderful and now they even have time for a chat. Make sure you book.
