Really good service in beautiful soundings. After tea a nice experience and a good selection of quality sandwiches and small cake's.Box provided to take away any left over.Fine selection of teas as well.Staff friendly and helpful. This place does get very busy though. Best to book if possible.Very large carpark.Foot entrances is on a bit of a steep slope.

We had afternoon tea which was lovely, very tasty and highly recommendable! The blonde lady who served us was absolutely brilliant and want to extend our thanks to her for her outstanding service, she clear is fabulous at her job.The damper was the unnecessary behaviour and remarks from her male colleague which were rude and not welcomed.

We came here after Christmas 2021 so I didn't have to cook. The decor is really good. We like to people watch, so it was a delight to sit right in front of the 'Engine Room' I.e. the kitchen and watch it work. The Omicron variant was around and the place was quite full; but the spacing between the tables (including transparent plastic between some) made it feel very safe as you could see there were still precautions in place. We filled out our own orders on an order form and left it for the wait staff to pick up and fulfil. The drinks and cutlery came to our table very swiftly after completing our order. There was a slight issue with our order taking time; but the manager offered complementary drinks to alleviate the blunder. This was nice and not something we would ordinary worry about, because we know sometimes thing don't go perfectly even when everyone it trying their best. The Food..The food was awesome. Probably the best starter I've had for a number of years on all my travels, and this was literally in my home town. Doing the perfect scotch egg, with runny yoke is hard to do, doing it when you are using fish instead of sausage.. wow! Perfect. If I have only one comment, is that there was no need for the green mayonnaise (not 100% sure what it was TBH as I couldn't taste much of anything), with the little mayonnaise based side made there to be too much mayonnaise, I think a simple side salad would have been better. Also slightly too much salt was added on top of the egg... BUT it was still really good. The food was so good in fact, that I forgot to take a picture of my mains.I had the Big Milsoms Burger. It was really good. Again one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I do feel like I'm missing a trick by not going for something else, as the Hake that my wife had looked joyously scrumptious, and she said it was delicious. We didn't have a dessert as we didn't have room! But seeing the dessert pass the table I think we will have mains and desserts only next time.. and there will be a next time.I can highly recommend coming to this restaurant. The staff, decor and food are great.

We were at a private function. The food was good and also the wine. The staff very attentive. A good time was had by all.

We ordered our food, which was great btw. Only we had to wait a long time, and saw that diners arriving after us had received their food. We asked were ours was. The maitre D, came to us and apologised for the delay. Apparently the printer had an issue when our ticket was printed out. We were also offered a glass of champagne as an apology for the delay.

Food was excellent, could not fault it.Wine was served room temperature so I had to add an ice cube - didn't want diluted wine!Service was definitely slow, although staff were friendly when with your table.Ambience - great for our team dinner, but wouldn't go for a romantic meal.Food really was lush though!

The ambiance & christmas lights are pretty but the standard of hot drinks temperature poor, we asked for extra hot hot chocolate but it came luke warm. This isn't the 1st time it has happened either. Very disappointing when we regularly visit, certainly needs improvement to want to return to be honest.

Lovely countryside setting with so much charm & character. Very clean & rooms spacious with excellent views. Both evening meal & breakfast were plentiful with a good menu to choose from. Staff very friendly, welcoming & helpful. We would certainly recommend & stay again.

Good for that extra special occasion , with a more formal presentation of meal courses. My personal choice for mains was a 12 oz sirloin steak medium done - a very tasty experience, which was complimented with a fair portion of fries, green leaf salad, two half tomatoes and a large mushroom. Added extra side composed of salad was a little overpriced. My three courses come to just over £36. Overall, a very enjoyable meal !! 🙂

The venue was fantastic for the wedding only complaints not enough disabled spaces at bottom and steps and car park very dark. My husband being disabled was unable to park in area and refused to allow me to walk through car park and down and up steps alone, hence he really struggled in both directions not clever with a serious heart condition. Would suggest better lighting for making people feel safe, beautiful grounds but just to dark at night.
