Very nice fish and chips. Quality!

·

Excellent fish, well cooked, and served by a very nice staff. Sausages and chips are quite nice. The service is quick as well! Highly recommended - even if you have to go out of your way to get there.

·

Excellent fish & chips, friendly owners. Unfortunately only take cash. In this era, seems a little outdated. Still worth taking cash along for excellent chops.

August 3rd 2019.As I had some cash on me for a change, I decided to try the new ownership establishment.Service was a bit chaotic as there was no way to tell if the people there already (it was fairly busy) were waiting to order or waiting for their order. It is nearly a year since I was last here and predictably the prices had increased - the standard cod & chips is & £6.30 (was £5).I didn't have to wait too long and the chips were served in a cardboard dish type container and cod on top. This was wrapped in paper. The chips were okay but although cooked through, the fish batter was stodgy and soaked in oil. I don't think the oil was that fresh, sadly, in my opinion.I doubt I will be a regular. Please note:September 2018:I went for a fish & chips and found it under new management. They no longer accept debit/credit cards and suggest you cross the road to the post office to draw cash.I did cross the road - went to the Co-op and got a Subway with my debit card!Do not know what the fish & chips is like now - sorry. This review below is no longer valid.I tend to visit the chip shops around the area I'm in. Whilst I don't claim to be a food critic, I know what I like. The Flaming Fryer is definitely on my list of places I visit regularly. The fish is well filleted and cooked and the portions given adequate. The chips are soft and not overdone.Neil, the owner, is very friendly and the staff he employs are generally well trained and efficient. There is car parking usually available across the road next to the bus shelter/stop. Word of warning though, the first half hours parking is free during the day and a ticket with date & time displayed can be obtained by pressing the green button on the ticket machine.Getting a fish and chip order without calling first is usually done easily in 20 minutes. As mentioned by another reviewer, it is way ahead of the Aldeburgh establishments.

Under new management since about two months ago. I have been getting fish and chips for two here every month for years and it has always been good. The prices have gone up now from £8.10 to £10.80 for what we have but the fish this time was cooked to perfection with excellent thin crispy batter. The staff are pleasant and efficient but haven't quite got the social skills of the previous management yet. I'm sure that will come as they settle in and get to know people.

A nice dinky place run by amazingly friendly people. The chips were great with generous portions.

If you like Fish & Chips this place is for you!! Always excellent, my favorite - Rock and Chips with a Saveloy on the side. How can you go wrong? The service is excellent a friendly with a bit of ribbing if you are lucky! The prices are a cheap as chips!! Sadly there is no eat in area, but it's fun to eat at home anyways; right? Don’t be shy! Head on in you will not be sorry!
