Shabby, tired rooms in the Lakeside block (room 19). The carpets were old and stained and the bathroom wasn’t particularly clean. We couldn’t draw the curtains as they had lots of hooks missing. The balcony doors were rotted with flimsy bolts. The room was not at all representative of the photos on the website. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the golf was great but we wouldn’t stay at the hotel again.

Great location. Tired looking inside and out. Staff friendly and helpful. Need to pay as much attention to the rooms as they have the bar, restaurant and public areas.

We went for lunch in Ogilvies, although a lovely day we were all really cold. The staff said 'well it's warm outside' - helpful??Requested a beer with lunch, recited a list of lagers, did not comprehend what a beer was. We requested he asked in the bar, returned with comment 'there was no beer' when asked why not he was vague and said something about the racks???Having given the negatives above, the food was well presented and good, shame we weren't offered the bar as an alternative to eat in, it had more atmosphere, we were the only people in the restaurant, unfortunately we are not in a hurry to return.

18 Holes of golf Friday pm. 3 course evening meal which was lovely, overnight stay in nice spacious room. Choice of breakfast Saturday before another round of golf on a fabulous course. 4 of us £120 each. Great deal. We couldn't fault it. Even had warm & sunny weather both days. All the staff first class. Thankyou Thorpness 👍

Had a fantastic time, really couldn't fault anything, the golf course is great ,really challenging and in great condition, the hotel accommodation superb and the food in the restaurant was just divine, we came on a stay and play deal and it was brilliant value for money we will definitely return.

As part of a group stayed here as part of a golf tour in the area mid MarchStaff were fantastic from beginning to end, food and accommodation also very very good.Golf course was in truly excellent condition for mid March and is a great test of golf, which may prove tough for higher handicappers but its a really great track. We are already planning another trip to Thorpeness for the Autumn. Thank you to all at Thorpeness for a great stay!

Golf course on the first day was a little tired. Improved once the greens were mowed.Service from the staff was very good. Food nice, albeit quite a small menu.

Excellent golf as always , especially as we were in between the two big storms ! The big difference however from previous visits was in the restauraunt which provided excellent food and service. The Hotel however in general is now looking tired and needs money spent in particular on the rooms. We stayed in the nicer rooms over the restauraunt .

A lovely stay at this unique and curious location in one of the UK's first ever holiday villages. Golf course is challenging but enjoyable with a friendly golf shop pro. Delicious regional and seasonal food in Ogilvie's restaurant with great breakfast choices. Lovely views from the outside terrace over the man made lake. Good walk through nature reserve or along the sea to Aldeburgh. If clear overnight the dark sky full of stars is a bonus.

We booked for the New Year's Eve dinner/dance at the Country Club with overnight stay. The food was lovely and the atmosphere wonderful. The band Accolade played after the meal instead of a disco and were brilliant! The fireworks were really good and we had a lovely evening with a taxi both ways. The hotel bar stayed open late and all the staff were very good. Breakfast was delicious but leave time as all cooked to order and you are waited on which I really like My only criticism would be our room was a little tatty in places but I do understand what a hard time hospitality has had recently. It was a wonderful experience and I recommend it
