Where is The Ship Inn?

🏠 Church Ln, Levington, Ipswich IP10 0LQ

"Located in the small village of Levington, hidden next to St Peter’s church, on a vantage point overlooking the Orwell River, lies the Ship Inn. The Grade 2 listed building dates back as far as the 14th century, had its first license granted in 1712. Originally named The Musket, the pub supposedly had links to infamous smuggler Margaret Catchpole and had a secret cupboard under the eaves for where smugglers could hide their goods. The pubs exterior has colourful hanging baskets and a classic thatched roof. As you enter the building the you are greeted with the beautiful low ceilings and original beams as well as the warmth from the log burner."

Rebecca and her team were so accommodating for our large group on Saturday. We were so well looked after, the service was amazing and really high quality delicious food! Would highly recommend to others and will definitely be returning!

Good service and value for money. Lovely drinks and food and nice atmosphere. Very accommodating as we arrived outside of the kitchen usual opening hours. Even facilities were nice! And perfect finishing spot after a long hike!!

Lovely food, really quirky and interesting building. Staff were brilliant, really kind and welcoming, from the person who took our reservation to those who served us. Really helpful and absolutely laid back when my dog slipped his lead and ran into the bar. 🙄

Excellent accommodation and good food in this old pub with rooms that has recently been taken over by a local group. Enjoyed their early bird special offer at discounted rate. Will use again.

We enjoyed our stay in one of the new bedrooms overlooking the back garden. It was much smaller though it looked in the photo on the website! Glad we only had a small dog! Service wasn't good due to a shortage of staff but food was very good. I ended up having to go and find someone to take our order at breakfast and had to chase them up at dinner when our drinks didn't arrive. Had the roast beef which was delicious but would have been nice if i had been asked if i wanted any sauces.

Delicious food. We went for a light lunch after a long Sunday walk, we ended up having starters off the menu, soup and ham hock terrine with 2 teas, over £20, we thought this was a bit pricey but can'tfault the food which was delicious. A lovely atmosphere. Dogs welcome, there were alot of very well behaved dogs in the bar. Well worth a visit.

Nice pub/hotel. More of a eatery. Bit pricer than your average pub but food is very nice. Beer is fine also. Dogs allowed in bar area which is always a bonus...

I’ve been coming to this pub for 15yrs, it’s an absolute beauty and always been great but recently they seem to have taken things to another level across the board. The food was stunning today and the service so friendly and attentive. We were found a lovely table by the bar with our two kids and dog and had a delicious Pork Belly, Fish and Chips (as good as Aldeburgh!) and the kids had wonderfully generous burgers. Also has a very impressive array of ice creams / sorbets and the beer garden is so fantastic in the Summer. Can’t recommend more highly! Even the decor has been given a sympathetic spruce without compromising the lovely olde world pub feel. Very much looking forward to coming back

Excellent service throughout. Great tasting food though the burger and chip portion was a bit small concidering the price charged. Adding service charge to the bill is sneaky tactics. People should be allowed to choose whether they want to tip or not. This is the UK not the USAWe'd return for sure!

We had a great night away at The Ship. The room was clean and comfortable, the pub was busy but perfect with the fire going on a chilly Autumn night and well kept beer on tap. Dinner was really good and breakfast superb - delicious full English. The staff were also lovely, always polite, friendly, helpful and efficient. Would love to go back!
