I stayed two nights in a double room. Very clean, comfortable soft beds; bath; good selection of teas and real coffee; great views of the countryside; quiet - facing away from the road. The staff in the pub are very friendly; excellent food - freshly prepared; fish is locally sourced. Breakfast was good value. Perfect for a country break; plenty of beautiful walks to explore and the Norman church opposite. The staff were very friendly and professional: maintains a ‘local’ / family atmosphere and welcomes travellers alike. Plenty of open space for children to run around and play..Check that the pub is open: they close on Mon-Tues, and close Weds-Fri 3pm-6pm

Despite being short staffed the table service was efficient and friendly. Online book and call to bring forward reservation dealt with courteously . Large portions of fish. Only slight disappointment were chips

I stayed for a night in one of the three (I think) rooms they have in a separate building. Welcome was exemplary - even though I arrived pretty late. Room fine and spacious, bed comfortable, all the basics worked. View out of window in daylight of the River Blythe (more of an estuary by this point) pretty stunning. Salmon and scramble eggs for breakfast excellent. Would be a very nice round walk to Walberswick/Southwold from here. Recommended.

Lovely place for an overnight stay; great value and excellent breakfast. Dog friendly. When the pub closes it feels like you have the whole garden overlooking the estuary all to yourself.

Very poor customer service. Arrived at 2.45 for a quick drink only to be told very rudely that the gates and doors would be locked at 3pm. We felt rushed, decided not to have a drink and went to another local pub who graciously served us. We are local to this area and will never drink here again.

The cod and cheese fishcake was lovely, but if I was eating later, I would probably wanted a bigger portion. It was however perfect for lunch

Lovely views in the garden and the food was good but the lady serving behind the bar was unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. They were short staffed so hopefully it's not usually like this.

This was a little gem! The rooms are seperate from the pub itself with room views over a perfect birdwatching secluded site. The breakfasts were pretty amazing, such a choice and Sarah made us feel very welcome. It's perfectly placed between Southwold and walberswick, close to Minsmere RSPB ,very happy husband! We ate in the restaurant which was fabulous, plenty of fresh choices. We will be back !

Stayed opposite this pub for a week and everyone has told us what an amazing place it is, which may be true if you are a regular. We went in twice and on both occasions were neither welcomed or thanked when we left or engaged in any way. We visit many pubs and this is the most unfriendly ever. The bar lady did however spend time the first evening moaning loadly about her employment conditions. She was silent the second time as the owners were in drinking.
