Black Rock Restaurant in Tendring

This was a random walk in by me and my children. We love a steak. Children eat free. I had rump surf and turf on the stone and it was amazing. Staff were really friendly, attentive and helpful, the children's meals were devoured. Would definitely return next time we are in Clacton and would definitely recommend a visit. I was in steak heaven

First visit. Liked the decor and the feel.I rarely eat steak but we had it served on the volcanic rock, which was a great experience and meant I could cook it to my liking. Great taste!Dropped from 5 stars due to 3x mistakes made in the one sitting. But kept at 4, because these were rectified and knocked off the bill.

The Black Rock really is a place worth visiting for a great steak. I had mine cooking on the rock at my table Its unique and it was amazing.My wife and I really enjoyed our visit there. Friendly clean and good food without bing over charged. Highly recommended

First time I went to the Black Rock was totally amazing. I had the Surf n Turf on the stone and it was outstanding, the wife had the sirloin which looked absolutely scrumptious, the chunky chips are fabulous. Service was just perfect, tending to our every needs, the ambience of this restaurant is just outstanding, no loud music so you can actually sit and talk without having to shout at each other.Although the 2nd time we went was our 30th wedding anniversary wasn’t as pleasant as the 1st, waitress ignored me when I said my dish wasn’t up to standard, my steak looked like it had been through mincer, prawns wasn’t cooked & put on top of my med/rare steak. We got there at 7pm & left at 7.40pm. I ordered a takeaway from local kebab house instead. I was asked by another diner why are we leaving, I showed the couple the pictures I had taken, they both said that’s totally unacceptable, “did you speak to the manager” I said the waitress said he’s not in tonight, the couple said yes he is. Maybe it was an off night, I may give it another go, or maybe they don’t need my custom. That’s why I only gave them 3 stars. Sorry 🙏

This is a fantastic restaurant, the service and staff are lovely and the food pretty amazing !We have been to this restaurant four times and every time enjoyed the experience. The food is beautifully cooked and you can have your steak brought out on a lava rock slab cooking on the table in front of you. The steaks are perfect and the quality 5* this is reflected in the price but well worth the money . They do cheaper steaks and dishes as well , all very tasty ! my Son (19) loved his burger which being a big eater , he couldn’t even finish . It’s best to book a table ,as they can get very busy , but I would highly recommend this restaurant .

Nice little steak house. Great food and the staff were spot on and very tentative.

Table of 8 on a busy Saturday evening, what could go wrong; nothing, it was brilliant!Staff are very polite, restaurant is set out very well, giving each table great space.Cocktails are lovely & food, wow!!!I only had the Steak Salad with a side of Sweet Potato Fries, but oh my, it was the best steak I've had in a restaurant for ages, it was fabulous. It was fresh, good quality food, flavoursome & I highly recommend it. Excuse the photo, I'd started eating & suddenly thought... Ooo photo!!

Black Rock has "Steak on a stone", an unusual and novel way to enjoy your steak. With 3 dips on offer every taste can be different. A great place to enjoy your meal. My only criticism, if you want to call it that is that the smallest fillet steak is 10oz and for those with smaller appetites than me might find it a bit too much. I would suggest they do an 8oz option. Nice chips and salad too.

Went here few days ago. Had a brilliant experience at this restaurant.From start to the end, the serving and food were fantastic!If you are about to this area, try it! Worth!

Went for father's birthday and the staff provided exceptional food and service as always. Would highly recommend this place to anyone, never had a bad experience.
