Chinese Cottage in Tendring

Venue was honestly disgusting, grime everywhere and the toilets were really dirty. We ordered food and were watched constantly by the waitress - not just looking every now and then, I mean like standing there and watching what we ate to make sure we weren't sharing food. Not to mention the staff are rude and hostile. Food was also cold and tasteless, and if we didn't eat it all we were told we would be charged extra. So off putting, definitely won't be back and will make sure others know to avoid.

4 of us went for the first time for the evening buffet meal. Not a great experience. Food was actually ok but the service from the owner/manager was probably the worst experience in a long time eating out. Very rude and abrupt. Bossed around the waiting staff. Stood there watching us all whilst we ate and if we ordered more than we actually had, I don't feel like that would of gone down well. Clearly doesn't want anyone to order more than a normal meal even though it is supposed to be an all you can eat buffet.Cold inside, had to ask for the heating to be put on where we sat. Wouldn't go back again, shame as food was ok, just the overall service let's the place down.

Eat here for the first time last night the service was very good and the food was the best we have had we will be returning.

The best Chinese for dine in. The food was delicious. The restaurant has a lot of character. I would definitely recommend just for the banana fritters! Yum!

Great place to eat , staff and owner are so nice ,always great service and great food . Only Chinese we will go to for sit down meal

Amazing dinner thanks to the wonderful staff of China Cottage, gorgeous restaurant quality meal in a take away, a much needed lift for us all enjoyed safely in our own home. What a treat. well worth a visit, food was lovely and hot when we got it home and collection was easy as they have an outside waiting area with seating but ours was ready as we got there, staff friendly as always :-)

Excellent customer service and lovely food. Me and my mum really enjoyed our meal and had a set menu. Lovely wine too!
