Dog & Pheasant in Tendring

My son and I had a meal together here. Food good. Service excellent. Drinks very reasonably priced. Altogether an enjoyable well cooked meal. Would deffo visit again.

Came in for breakfast after dropping of mum at Oaks hospital. Lovely staff and great food. No problem me waiting. X

Bad experience.Used this restaurant for the first time after reading the other Hungry horse in the area had bad reviews.After ordering, lady brought over cutlery that was all dirty, so we politely asked for a clean set, which lady did but unfortunately the male waiting staff member said to her in customer ears reach "oh just spit in their food!", So obviously we immediately were put off our food because as you can imagine our food might have covid infested spit in it!! We quickly left as soon as we had eaten some of the food.We spoke to people in the area after coming away and too late for us was told to steer clear of this restaurant...

I visited recently with my wheelchair bound client for lunch and we were, even before entering the building made to feel welcome. Our server, Carol assisted in getting my client into the building and was a delight throughout. The food was great value, prepared in good time, served hot and was absolutely delicious. I would absolutely recommend this pub.

One of the servers always gets something wrong every time we come.. whereas Carol does a very good job and she's super friendly and efficient. Our other stays here were terrible, but we didn't have Carol, so that's perhaps why.More staff need to take a leaf out of Carol's book.. I'm not sure they know what customer service is.

Great service from the get go with food and drinks coming within 20 minutes of ordering. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Personally got the waffle and chicken which was delicious for such a low price.

no complaints here. sat straight down to our table waitress was friendly you could see they was getting busy but food came out pretty quickly, standard hungry horse fair but nothing to complain about there ... only slight gripe was dessert took about half hour and i had to grab a waiter to get it but considering how busy they was its understandable and was sorted straight away also table took a little long to clear (as we got the dessert) but again it never ruined the experience as the staff where friendly enough even under pressure 😁👍

Accidentally left a rating without a review. Unfortunately it was a pretty poor experience. We were the only customers when we arrived at about 10am for breakfast. We haven't been to a pub in quite some time so kind of forgot we should seat ourselves. There were 2 staff members at a table who looked like they were doing some administrative work, glanced at us but pretty much ignored us otherwise. We eventually decided to sit down at a table but there were no menus so we just found the menus online. So we then ordered at the counter and the food came quickly and the breakfast items were actually pretty good. I mean don't get me wrong. The staff were friendly when they talked to us but the service just felt completely off. Don't think we will ever be coming back.

Lovely food at great prices. Fantastic service , staff are friendly and helpful despite being very busy and rushed off their feet.
