Excellent service and quality of food so nice to have our village pub back

First visit to the newly refurbished Courthouse.what a lovely restaurant. A lot of work has been done to make this a lovely place to eat. The food was up to the usual high standard as you would expect from the Wooden Fender. Good luck to Dale and his new team.Not that they need it. Well done. Jenny.

Sunday lunch today was delicious. Portions great size and flavour. Service excellent. Referb brilliant and all a short walk from home. Would highly recommend.

Birthday lunch for 80 year old 23.7.21.Excellent meal, with top class service and very friendly staff. Michelle added a special touch as desert arrived for the birthday boy with a lit candle in it. Couldn't fault anythingGood menu as well.

Decent place to stay with friendly staff. The breakfast was good and rooms were warm, once I figured out how to turn radiators on. Shower could do with somewhere to put shampoo when in the shower, no shelf. Could do with a bit more hanging space, but otherwise fine. I really liked the nice China for breakfast. It was unexpected. They had a big parking space too.

What a amazing find ! A pub with great food ! Amazing staff ! The owners ( family run ) are just jumping through hoops to make your stay brilliant! I booked a 4 day stay for my wifes birthday and even though the restaurant doesn't open at the moment in the evenings due to covid ! I asked if it was possible to get some food on the Saturday night? The restaurant was opened just for us and anytime if we wanted ! Customer service is 100% just brilliant ! the room's are clean comfortable and perfect for a couple of night's please if you want to stay in Colchester this is the place to stay you will not be disappointed !! Its close to the zoo and the coast! Thank you Michelle !! you made my wifes birthday perfect by decorating the restaurant in the morning with happy birthday banners!

I stayed with a friend on a visit to Beth Chatto's garden and some NGS gardens. Perfect. The staff were polite, attentive and helpful. I was supplied with plant milk and Flora due to lactose intolerance. It was immaculately clean and there were quite a few nice touches. The breakfast and dinner were delicious, beautifully cooked good pub grub. Just the job. I would definitely go back.
