I read the reviews for this place before booking, not all good but decided to try for myself as i hate reviews.I am leaving one because this place deserves it! My expectations were low but they were exceeded.A nice family pub with a relaxed atmosphere. Best of all the food was lovely. Well priced, good portions that came to us well presented and hot!One of the only pubs in the area serving food all day. Also with disabled access.Thank you Essex Skipper

Good basic pub lunch food. Outside really needs a tidy up. It has recently been taken on by new management so maybe they haven't had time to do this yet.

Absolutely fantastic, the meal was beautiful, the staff are amazing. Warm, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to return, will make it our regular for sure.

Good service..but the food was very average..I ordered a burger and it was completely dry..and not too cheap either. The atmosphere in the pub was good.. but the food let it down.

An amazing night, with good people. The band were brilliant and played a large number of songs that were pretty eclectic but great performances. The environment was enjoyable and fun. The staff were friendly and on top of order, there was barely a queue for drinks all night.

Excellent Sunday roast but would have preferred mixed grill but no normal menu on Sundays despite website stating otherwise.

Had a superb evening with girlie's. Food great with the added extra of a kivr band. Atmosphere was welcoming and hosts could not be more friendly. Will be back x

Amazing food for the price of a Take away sandwich !!! ............So glad we tried this place for lunch after deciding against a local pretentious garden centre cafe .......Owner was very welcoming and the lunch we ordered was exceptional well cooked and well presented for the unbelievable price of £3.50 each !! Toilets were clean and had some nice touches in the toiletry supplies for anyone "caught short " .......will be returning

A Monday lunch visit in November was quiet but the service was excellent and the food good.Portion sizes are large with a selection of pub favourites mixed with curry and fajita options. The beef fajitas was enough for two people, delivered sizzling to the table with two wraps. The steak and ale pie is huge with the option of chips or mash (the mash is under the pie) with more veg than you could wish for. The hunters chicken was ok...not the best and light on BBQ sauce.Recommended. Book in advance on busier days.

Very, very surprised. Makeover of the Pub was pretty good, clean, light and open space. The service was excellent, the staff brilliant and the food, well let me just say keep it up! A celebration of a life of 80 years was why we were they and despite my reservations (sorry but it did need a bit of spark), this place did it the justice it deserved. I do recommend, but as the lady who served us said, make sure you book in advance - I do think she wasn't joking either as it was packed with lots of very happy (stuffed) fed people! And I for one, am not surprised....
