The Fish Inn in Tendring

I can honestly say it’s a long time since I’ve had such an appalling meal. Chips were cold and greasy, Chicken kebab was dry and tasteless, the fish was grey and very dry. Reordered from elsewhere put this down to experience. Dog was happy

Where do I start, nearly all food was stone cold, missing an item, reg cod was tiny (should have been 7 to 8oz but weighed 5.3oz) 2 x large chip portions tiny (should have weighed 52oz but weighed 35oz) large kebab meat portion tiny (only half a small box) tried to call the restaurant, waited 15 mins then got an answer machine. Needless to say I won't be ordering from them again!!

My order was wrong and when I phoned to tell them I was told it wasn’t. Nice customer service NOT.Basically told the Cod that was delivered was my ordered of Haddock and that the small portion of chips was a large. I’m not a fan of tasteless Cod hence I always have Haddock and contrary to the the lady’s opinion I do know the difference. I only use Fish Inn as they deliver for an extra charge. In future I will go to our usual chippy and get Haddock that tastes and looks like Haddock and a large portion of chips when I order it.

Fish and chips (Sunday 20th Feb)for 5 people. Chips were awful and everyone left them. Rock salmon was nice. If I wanted Potato wedges I would have ordered them, try checking Your cutting machine.

Such a shame this place used to be amazing been using here about 3 years to day our food was very poor the fish was small and over cooked the saveloy was dry and had think it was under the hot light for hours. The large box of chips used to be so full we could never eat them all now we could of done with more. The best thing was the curry sauce and that was cold. We won’t be going back again real shame.

We have been ordering from this chip shop for many years, and recently the service seems to have slipped into the wrong direction. The boxes with the food in have got smaller, to the point when I ordered a doner meat special, even larger it up, for it to arrive in a small polystyrene tray, with the chips etc. Got only about 4 bits of meat!!! That didn't have the sauce on as on the order. However, the coleslaw was excellent. Maybe it's time we started to look for a new kebab shop, that looks after there winter regular customers.??

Been using fish inn for quite a few years now was not very happy with the last 3 orders smaller than normal and only lukewarm . I don’t like complaining because mistakes get made that’s the way things are but had a delivery tonight off a large doner meat special and again it was quite a bit smaller than what I used to get.So I rung up and asked I they are reducing the size off there meals and was told they are now doing portion control because the cost have things have gone up and don’t want to raise there prices and before the used to over portion.Which is fair enough but it should say that on the menu by just reducing the size off the amount food you still paying more for the food because you get lessWhich is just trying to hide the price increase.

Last 3 orders were wrong. Twice we got delivered some one else’s order much later than they said and the last time I opted for collection and they didnt even know I ordered. Then had to wait again for them to prepare my order I had already waited for. Victim of their own success’s as the foods really nice. They just can’t keep up with demand

Went in to the shop and ordered chk burger and cheese burger with chips, to staff that don't talk! Waited 35 minutes in the shop which was freezing. Staying 3 minutes away so took it back. The food was horrid burgers were soggy and chips tasted like old oil no salt and vinagar. I can't believe they were so busy! I wouldn't eat there again.

Ordered from this place tonight, got chips, veggie burger and kids meal. Chips were lovely! Hot and fresh, some even had the skin on! Yum! My son had the kids meal which had chicken nuggets and they weren't the cheap things you get in supermarkets but proper chicken in batter, very impressed 😁
