The food wasn't the best but the staff were lovely and it's very clean

Lovely family run place at the end of the pier. Clean, good food, good value and friendly staff!

This was our first visit to Clacton so had to do the pier. We got to the end and decided to grab some food on the front but noticed a ‘fish platter’ on the board at the Jolly Roger. It sounded good so walked in and ordered. I have to say we weren’t expecting a gourmet plate but when it came out it was great. I know it was basic fare but it was cooked brilliantly and was well presented so I had to write this as a thank you. I would have taken a photo but we were hungry and scoffed the lot in no time at all. Well done guys!

Friendly staff but food fairly horrendous. Flavourless frozen food either deep fried or shoved in the microwave. A real shame given the great location.

Visited the jolly Roger yesterday the fish and chips with peas and side salad were excellent, only let down were the peas not very hot, on the service side meal was ordered and bought to table within 10 mins so no problem with that, so a good experience all around well done to all the hard working staff

We ate here on Thursday night. I had fish and chips and my son (9 years old) had sausage beans and chips. The fish and chips were not good, it was bland and tasteless and the batter was questionable in nature, I described it at the time as being one of the worst ones I’d ever eaten. The sausages were basic and cheap. We also had a slice of lemon cake shared, which was okay, but very dry. From midnight we (my nine year old and I) had a very severe case of food poisoning. We were vomiting almost non-stop until 3am on Saturday morning, including vomiting up water, with upset stomachs, and barely able to eat more than a few bites of bread from Saturday afternoon until today (Monday). I would not go back here if you paid me. Which is sad, as the staff were very lovely and friendly and we had a lovely time atmospherically, as it is a nice spot at the end of the pier. They also take card. Frozen Birdseye fish from Iceland would be about a million times better, no overstatement. I feel sick just thinking about this place, not sure I’ll ever be able to eat fish again and it’s put me off clacton.

The taste was really nice. However, I think we overpaid for few bits of seafood, literally 2 cherry tomatoes cut in 4 and 1 slice of cucumber that supposed to make for 2 full salads😳😬

·

Extremely pleased and pleasantly surprised with my order and also at how clean the restaurant was with a nice fresh, modern look to it, there is some great views of the coast both left and right of the pier. My food was cooked to a good standard and was piping hot throughout as well as tastes fantastic. The staff were very friendly and polite and went beyond there way to please us as paying customers.

One of the worst cafes/restaurant ive ever been to .£26 for 2x Hard chips and microwave burger( gourmet is NOT the term i would use )And children fish fingers and chips ..The adults food is on the same tiny plates as childrens meals .And the most vile cappuccino ive ever tastedRotten
