The Rose and Crown in Tendring

Excellent B&B and we couldn't fault our room number 5 which came with it's own kitchen area, cooker and microwave plus a single and double bed. The breakfast was the best I've had with premium sausages and smoked bacon. Will definitely be back when staying in the area. The pub has a few parking spaces but parking is also free on the street.

I don't have a bad thing to say about the Rose and Crown. Me and my husband stayed here this weekend and found all the staff to be helpful and friendly, the room was bright, clean and airy and the food was lovely. Highly recommend.

Stayed for one night over Easter weekend with friends and family. Rooms were clean and modern with plenty of tea and coffee, shower was hot and powerful. Staff friendly and the breakfast lovely. Mattress on bed could have been better and door lock fobs unreliable, but overall we liked it and would stay again.

Food was amazingly tasty, well presented & value for money.The pub & restaurant is welcoming &The staff are friendly, accommodating & very helpful.

Had such a lovely time visiting friends, the weather was awful so we spent the whole day in the pub drinking and eating, we had homemade pizza in the restaurant in the evening, we were well looked after. We had booked a room upstairs which was nice and clean. Everybody was really nice and helpful, will definitely stay there again!

What a lovely pub/restaurant. We have a friend who moved to Thorpe le Soken a year ago and we visited her yesterday. She has 2 small dogs who don't like being left alone so she called this pub to ask if they were allowed in and they told her they were. We went for lunch and ended up staying about 4 hours. The staff were very friendly, the food was lovely and even all the other customers were chatty and friendly. It has a lovely atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Warm and welcoming. We will be visiting again.

Spent 2 nights here and had a wonderful modern, newly decorated room with tea/coffee making facilities, a lovely hot shower ensuite and a great English Breakfast. All the staff were brilliant, very accommodating, pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Traditional pub menu but definitely something there for everyone, including a Specials board. Some off road parking available but side of road parking was safe and close by. Will definitely go again.

Popped in for a late meal while travelling down from Norwich to see family. As we came very underage and what appeared to be teenage staff seated us in an almost empty pub which was surprising at 7pm. One young girl came over to take our order about 30 minutes later, the kitchen were great and food came out quickly, spoke to the chef and he was nice and chatty. The girl took another 30 minutes before our empty plates were cleared. What appeared to be the landlady and the manager just seemed to be sat at the bar with a bottle of wine too drunk to care anyways, saying nothing. We were now visibly fed up with our experience and expressed this at the bar and we got a very sarcastic “sorry” from the young girl and a huff in the corner from the manager. If we do return, I highly doubt it’ll be owned by the same people, not a care in the world from the underage staff or the drunk manager. Such a shame because it appeared to be a very lovely pub.

My partner and I stayed a night, had an evening meal and breakfast, the food was beautifully cooked and delicious. Our room was very clean and smelt so fresh when we walked in. The bathroom was spotless and had a great shower. Everyone was so friendly and service excellent. We will definitely going back to stay.
