Lovely place, lovely food. The menu is a bit different to just a pub menu but not OTT. Our waiter was really nice too, (young man). It was busy but he had time for everyone.

Visited ad hoc on Sunday 13.02.22 and was able to get a table in the resturant after a short wait. Order taken by the waitress promptly but we were then left without drinks for about 15 mins while the waitress spoke to her pals at another table. The food was served by another staff member who must not have heard me ask for a refill. No jug of water offered as was to every other table that came in. The food was average. Another staff member cleared our plates and pointed us to the dessert menu only to not return to take our order and after another 15 mins or so i managed to catch the eye of yet another staff member to order dessert, which was nice. I felt invisible. The bill was wrong not surprisingly with the mix of staff that were involved with our table. I had time to watch what was happenimg at other tables, who were waited upon efficiently for drinks and meals. Clearly our faces did not fit.

Been once daytime and made very welcome and had the fish and chips and a seafood very nice and reasonable wine prices by the glass, the next time on Saturday the menu for vegetarians need more choice, but only gripe was of the three steaks on the menu the only one available was double the price of the ones removed off menu and cannot see how only the cheap steaks were taken off making a £40 more for three having lunch, the veggie mushroom pasta £12 was overpriced for ingredients costing £3. However the food was well prepared and tasted nice but would not go on a Saturday against as to rushed between courses. Total bill for four £100

Great food in a lovely pub. We were celebrating a birthday at Sunday lunchtime. The staff were amazing, very helpful and attentive. We had a lovely time.

Great range of ales that change very frequently. The separate vegan menu was greatly appreciated, particularly as it had more options than the usual falafel starter and chickpea curry! The banana blossom fish and chips was good, though perhaps a bit too much batter for the amount of blossom. Wish I'd had room for dessert, because they sounded lovely too!

Food was good. Asked waitress if they had French mustard she said yes then brought me English mustard when I explained I had asked for French she said we don't do French not sure if she didn't listen or was just confused. Also when paying we were asked if we were paying by card or cash said card then were asked do we need the card machine?! Maybe she was distracted again.

As a fairly regular visitor from 5 years back, I was very disappointed on my recent visit. Some time back the pub was left to die, but was rejuvenated by a new owner, who really brought it back to life. At that time the food was excellent, well priced, and the choice of local beer was fine. My recent visit found the place overcrowded, with a limited menu, none on which suited me. I eventually settled on Sausage and Onion Pie, which looked good, but was almost tasteless., and served with either Peas or Vegetables....??? I was confused.! and the ale was cold.£13.50 for one sausage and half an onion, covered in pastry with a few potatoes! However, the service was good and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Excellent food..pleasant staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Undoubtedly the best pub and grub in the area.

We had an absolutely delicious roast lunch today. Fabulous attentive staff. Highly recommend.

A really great restaurant-pub with some really interesting food and a good selection of real ales to complement.The Ship has always been a really great place to eat and now things are starting to get back to normal post-Covid they are back into the swing of things (while still taking great care with their Covid precautions)The Restaurant area is a very pleasant and civilised place to eat. They've also go a traditional bar area and plenty of outside seating.Highlights of the menu for me were the Cajun Chicken Breast on the Summer Chickpea salad - which was a wealth of flavours - and the Crispy Beef Strips (quality meat cooked in a tempura batter) with horseradish aioli. The deserts were great too.Service was attentive, without being in-your-face and the beer was well kept. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
