Was looking forward tonight to Fish & Chips however found this Expensive, small portion, only cash taken, very dissatisfied and disappointed with what was supposed to be medium cod and chips

Expensive but worth it. I had a large cod and chips. The cod was tasty. The chips were good. The price was heafty. Much more expensive than other chippies in Watford.

Barkers only take cash in the shop, they are avoiding tax which everyone else has to pay, this day and age there should be a card machine available but nope.overpriced food, kids meal doesn't give the options to have a saveloy even tho the sausage is the same price, doesn't make sense. You have to bring your own bag as if your going to a supermarket or they charge you for them. They also charge for each little bit of sauce you have. It's a shame as their food really is nice but everything else just ruins it and I am gutted to say its my local chips shop.

Being Scottish i was extremely disappointed coming to England and the fish and chips being substandard ive tried lots of different shops to be only disappointed with original owners moving on and standards dropping due to tradition being lost for example skin still on the fish or the fish and chip shop selling kebabs? My faith in good British fish and chips was restored today when i came across Barkers I ordered a cod supper and it was the best in England that i have came across and ive tried lots from the coast to the midlands fat chunky fresh cod fillet wrapped with light gold crispy batter that melts in the mouth. The chips fresh big cut massive portions with the perfect balance of crunch and cut. Don’t waste your money elsewhere trust a fish and chips Connoisseur

The best fish, chips, chicken wraps and battered sausages in the county! I love that they have the option of paprika on the chips ☺️

We've ordered a couple of times from Barkers having never had fish and chips from them before. I thought the food was absolutely fantastic. The fish was really fresh and chips were well cooked and not soggy at all. The portions were really generous as well. I thought the signage regarding covid 19 was excellent before you came in. However, I have to deduct one star for one reason alone and that is with all the perspex barriers and the hand sanitizer and the masks they were accepting cash. Yes they ask you to preorder, but I didn't know that. Taking cash and giving cash back is a serious risk. I don't know who touched the money they are giving back to me and they're handling the money I've given them. It's easy to get a sumup machine or something else to take card payments. I would definately go back there for fish and chips, but I would preorder next time. I would definately recommend Barkers for your fish and chips.

One the best fish and chips shops locally. We always order from here, best chips ever I ordered tonight via just eat and while food tasted nice wasn't as hot as expected. I look forward to eating my chips hot, soaked in salt and vinegar and moist. Sadly these weren't like these. Probably cooled down and although not late, just not how they would had been had I collected them. Spent up to £30 so would had been nice to enjoyed fully satisfied so giving 3 star this time. Usually a 5 I'd score.

BEST battered sausage with the crispiest batter. And the freshest tasting chips, also perfectly crispy. Most likely the best fish and chip shop in Watford.

Proper fish and chips! A real chippy offering classic fish and chip shop foods, lots of fish to select and all served up in biodegradable packs. If you want a good fish supper, look no further! Prices can be a little steep but worth it for a treat.

A great chippy with the best chips. Didn't get exactly what we ordered today but it didn't matter. Mushy peas became mushy pea fritters and they were so delish we'll definitely have them again! Really good fish and perfect batter. Excellent!
