Reserved a table for a girls evening. Lovely local pub, plenty of gin selection too. Nice and busy. Friendly welcoming staff and locals.

What a lovely pub that we could have completely missed if circumstances hadn’t lead us here. Tried to book a few restaurants closer to our hotel when visiting Harry Potter Studio Tours this weekend, but due to the current situation many were closed for food, which lead us to The Unicorn.Ordered our drinks and the Guinness was perfectly served. The girls drinks looked elegant in their glasses.Ordered food, chilli nachos x 2, bangers and mash and a child’s pasta. All beautifully homemade and delicious. The landlady was fabulous. Really welcoming and we had lovely conversation with her. Her staff were helpful and polite. Thierry, the pub dog, kept us company throughout out meal but left us as soon as the plates were cleared. He was perfectly behaved.Quick trip to the spotless loos and on our way into the night but only after the landlady made a special effort to catch us to say goodbye. That made us feel very special. Thank you.If we were locals, this would definitely be our local!

Stopped here for a spot of lunch on the way to Harry Potter studios. Friendly staff, Absolutely amazing food, huge portions and a great price. Will definitely be returning! Thank you!

We chose the Unicorn to have a family meal as it is halfway between our Berkshire and Essex homes (there was 11 of us) I booked via telephone and spoke to the landlady who was very friendly and helpful. We arrived to find a long table set up for us, and as we were all arriving at different times, we were not put under any pressure to order food Asap. There were no starters on the menu, but we were too busy catching up to worry about that. There was a good selection of Sunday roasts (including vegetarian) as well as other usual pub food. Between us we had roast beef, pork, turkey and nut roast and everyone said how nice their food was (and good portion size)There was a good selection of desserts as well, but the home made bread pudding and custard was excellent.Once we had finished eating, the table was cleared, but we were under no pressure to leave, even though we stayed on for a bit talking, without buying any more drinks. All the staff in the pub were very friendly and helpful, especially the landlady (sorry, didn't get her name)

Fabulous! We were in the area to go to Harry Potter studios, so had never been before. The landlady was the best! So friendly and helpful ( we had to move our booking in an hour at the last minute) even on a busy Sunday. The food and beer was excellent. Only wish we were locals!

The Sunday roast was excellent, beer choice was good and reasonably priced. The owner took care of things and interacted with the customers. We did not have a booking but she managed to find us a table so the effort was noticed.
