Had dinner here last weekend and this restaurant is wonderful, the food is outstanding and the service is excellent . Lovely outdoor seating area for a pre dinner drink .

Walked up to the pub with my brother on a sunny day for a few late afternoon drinks.Quite empty inside as most of the customers were sat at the tables outside.....including us.An OK selection of beers and ciders but what surprised me most were the prices - which, in this day and age (and for a pub l'd always thought was expensive) weren't too bad at all.A very pleasant couple of hours, topped off with one of their signature Scotch Eggs.Lovely !

I have worked in this area for more than thirty years and only just got round to visiting this amazing little pub/ hotel. Quaint location. Food was ok too. I liked it.

Lovely old dog friendly pub in the Essex countryside. We stopped here for Sunday lunch; food, atmosphere and service were great. We chose the haddock and triple cooked chip as well as the pork loin roast, followed by bread and butter pudding which I would highly recommend. Beer and ale selection was also good here.

We went to the Bell Inn for our anniversary meal, and what a fabulous meal it was. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The service was excellent and the staff were very welcoming, polite and friendly. Thank you to the Bell for a great evening, with exceptionally good food, we will definitely be returning.

Friendly, very helpful, attentive staff. Chef even came to our table to guarantee our dietary requirements were met. Lovely experience. Room was warm and bed extremely comfortable. Highly recommend.

What a spot! Great butcher beside the pub, amazing food and wonderful setting. Could not recommend enough certainly when it is cold outside!Edit: Went back for a Sunday lunch in the restaurant rather than the pub. It was very busy and this was late 4pm sitting for lunch. Food was fine, roast was mostly fine. Plates packed with cartoon sized Yorkshire puddings and swimming in a gravy that was very tasteless. Made every bite on the plate taste of the gravy and gave everything a sloppy wet texture. I guess that is what people love judging by the crowds. Desert was good and cheese was fine. Starter of mushroom soup had too little seasoning for me but was fine once applied. Bill for two came to £110 not including tip. That was with coffee and half bottle Challis.

Have eaten here a few times now... The menu often changes depending on the local produce and time of the year, so there's often something new to try. The staff are friendly and it's a cosy and warm atmosphere. The food, although not the sort of price you'll pay at a Harvester, is more than worth it! You get what you pay for here and have never had a complaint. In fact, I remember ordering pigeon for the very first time, and never had it before, ordered it well done... Big mistake, never order pigeon well done. When I mentioned I felt it was a little tough, the waitress recommended that I try another portion, this time medium... A short time later, a new plate of food arrived and the medium cooked pigeon was delicious! Nothing was too much trouble!I highly recommend The Bell!
