We moved from Ilford to Grays and were looking a good Asian Restaurant and found village Indiya near us.We went there first time but very disappointed that believe me it is not even asian food. Meat was not properly cooked and was smelly. We asked the waiter can it be replaced. He brought another which was even worse. Meanwhile the owner came in and we just tried to give him our feedback but he was not interested to listen and rather insisted that this is the busiest restaurant in Grays.I was shocked how can he offer that bad food in the name of Asian Food. Decided not to ho at all.

Had two friends from out of town coming to visit, and they love their Indian food. They have eaten in restaurants up and down the country so wasn't going to book just anywhere. I read the great reviews of village Indiya and booked for 8 o clock Saturday.I was surprised how small the place was and how busy. Every table was occupied with a narrow gangway down the centre with waiters rushing back and forth. We were seated in a small waiting area along with several people collecting take away and were offered drinks. As we drank our Cobra's more and more people came through the door with bookings until the waiting area was packed with more waiting outside. After 35 minutes of this I was beginning the think I had made a mistake when a table of four donned their coats and departed. The table was quickly cleaned and set and we were seated. The service was fast and efficient with poppadoms and dip's arriving in minutes. The menu had a few additions to the usual offerings and the waiters were happy to answer our questions. We went straight to mains choosing Tandoori mixed grill, chicken Jalfrezi, lamb Madras, pilau rice, onion bhaji and peshwari naan. The food was excellent, portion size good and polished off enthusiastically by the three of us.We all agreed it was the best Indian meal we have had and has reset the bar for Indian food.I must also give a mention to the girls behind the bar who were terrific 🍺👍

We sadly had to cut our visit short through an unrelated issue, but I can't wait to go back and work my way through the menu. This place was busy, noisy and great! Attentive and professional staff, nice nosh, and very reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommend it.

Incredible food, incredible service (despite it being a Saturday night and as packed as it could be) and its even good for breakfast! Best Indian place I know.

Unfortunately Village Indiya has ruined Indian food for me. I now can't enjoy it anywhere else because this place has absolutely set the bar. I live in South London and travel an hour just to eat here. Love this place ❤️

Would love to say it was bad, to keep it a secret! Went for my birthday meal with my wife at 18:30 on Friday 22nd and it was packed, pleased we booked ahead. The queue for takeaway was huge and saw people waiting around half hour for their food, the fact there was a queue and people were waiting paitiently showed it was good. Our food was very nice not greasy swimming in tons of ghee, and tasty.Service was excellent and didn't feel to rushed by far the best place for a curry in this area of Essex

Dad's 90th birthday lunchI live in Canada and organised a surprise party for my Dad for his 90th birthday at Village Indiya, my dad's favourite Indian restaurant. This restaurant was superhelpful in making all the well-planned arrangements. They put on a lunch party which was memorable, spectacular and and absolutely delicious. The service was super-efficient, friendly and their staff went the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. The atmosphere was friendly and fun. The food was plentiful and very tasty and, having seen their kitchen I was very impressed by its cleanliness and efficiency. The restaurant kept me well informed about all aspects of the party even though I was in Canada and my Dad said this was the best party of his life and he will never forget it.Thank you Village Indiya for everything: all the phone calls, organisation of menu, seating arrangements, well organised time plan, and excellent catering by you. A 5 star experience. I will organize another get together by your restaurant whenever I visit England.Date of visit: October 2021

We had a wonderful lunchtime meal. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food, and I have eaten in India and many Indian restaurants in my years, was the best that I have eaten. Wonderful flavours. The only down side is that the meal for myself, which I asked to be hot wasn't hot enough. But that was the only fault and I suppose that us being picky. It still earned a full, well deserved and meant 5☆.
