Went with friends for the evening.Choice of Beers was ok as was the wine.I had the Calamari starters which was good. For mains I had the Blue Cheese Burger which took for ever to turn up and the waitress, who was charming, twice told me the dish would be along soon. When it did arrive it was almost cold and the burger overcooked. The vegetables which accompanied my wife’s dish was stone cold. I would say between ordering and the main course we waited almost two hours. The food itself was nothing special but reasonably priced. On the plus side the waitresses are very pleasant and helpful.

Having spent a day in Southend on Sea and then at Lake Meadow Country Park, we randomly searched for a place to eat and came across the Duke of York pub. I have to say that my wife and I were not disappointed. On arrival both Tania and Kristy were very welcoming and showed us to our table. Throughout the evening we did not have to get up from our table as both Tania and Kristy took our order at the table for drinks and food and bought them over, even though the place was busy and it was only two off them. Tuesday is 2 for 1 burger night and the food was very good and about the right size. The burgers were moist and well seasoned. Even the locals that were at the pub were very friendly and had a few laughs with them. Overall we had a very lovely evening and would like to thank Kristy and Tania for making it special. Will surely be coming back even though its an hour's drive from where I live.

Good food, not cheapest menu, not lots of food choices if your fussy, nice atmosphere, altho? New waitress n didn't bring our change back from a cash payment?? Don't like people to presume she can have the change as tip! £8🤔always tip but she peed me off then😫

It turns out that Tuesday night is buy 1 get 1 free on burgers and pizza. Can't speak for the pizza, but the, "big boy" burgers that we had were excellent... The chips were freshly cooked, the beer (3 cask ales on! Wow!) Was wonderful and my 20 year old son was happy with his esoteric Old Mout Cider! I must also comment on the service, which was welcoming and friendly from the start and continued in this manner until we left, replete and determined to return! Really very good! Recommended.

This wasn't the usual restaurant experience as it was a buffet following a funeral service. There was an excellent variety of sandwiches, chicken quiches etc. and it was all very tasty. The tea and coffee was replenished frequently and the staff were very helpful.

Hate to leave bad reviews, but I’m very disappointed With the roast dinner today at the duke. The Turkey was dry, the roast potatoes were bruised and soggy. The gravy was like water and the the veg looked like it had been sat underneath the heat lamps all day. The calamari was over cooked very chewy with greasy batter, it’s safe to say I won’t rush back

Had a delicious Sunday lunch - service was so so.... a the hostess barked at us when we arrived and we had to chase drinks - but the food was OUTWTANDING! Such great roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings for a pub lunch. Good portion of beef also.

First visit here. Loved the decor and atmosphere. Efficient service from lovely waitresses. My wife enjoyed her generous portion of liver and bacon but my haddock and chips wasn't.t the best piece of fish I've had.
