Thaxted is lovely: not heaving with bikers like Finchingfield. Not even any lycra clad unfortunates, on this occasion. Bonus. We had a light lunch. My wife had mushroom soup, which was a bit watery but lovely flavour. I went for a Coronation chicken sandwich which was really rather good. Succulent chicken and flavoursome vehicle, with cumin and I believe proper apricot puree. Whatever. It worked. It was a bit pricey, but the lavatories were just so. The service was prompt, despite being busy. All in all an uplifting encounter.

Dreadful!!! The worst scrambled eggs I've ever eaten! The hole dish looked unappetizing &totally tasteless... shocking experience!! Even the coffee was terrible. Sorry but nothing positive I can say.... whitch is a shame as the village is pretty......

Simply avoid, overpriced, food poor, portions and presentation poor, service poor, and if you struggle with stairs don't even thing about trying to make the loo.Park up the road and eat in the pub

What a rare find! Lovely place with lovely staff. We had afternoon tea and scones were absolutely delicious, although I'd rather have clothed cream instead of whipped cream, but that didn't spoil my enjoyment. Would like to visit again in near future for dinning experience

Great service, food and coffee. Breakfast is very good with a nice choice. Also have a licence so alcohol also on the menu. Can park outside if available space is there. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

We were looking for a breakfast place in Thaxted - and we ended up having an early morning brunch here instead (leek potato soup, goats cheese and walnut salad). The staff was amazing (the two girls serving us and manning the tills) and the fairy lights added to the charm of this place with some timber frames and rustic setting. Highly recommend if you're in Thaxted!

Took my in-laws out to lunch at Parrishes on Friday 2nd July and were not disappointed. Both my wife's parents are elderly and have limited mobility but nothing was too much trouble for the attentive and caring staff at Parrishes. Good food too. Certainly will be returning.

This place doesn't look very special on the outside, and to be honest, you could go past in complete oblivion to its existence. I have done but was directed there when I asked someone where they recommended for a quick lunchtime bite.I am very glad I asked as this turned out to be a really good choice. The veggie options are a good variety and, again, they are imaginative - in other words, not just pasta, cheddar cheese or mushrooms. They also cater for gluten free diets. The staff are pleasant and accommodating, the food delicious and I would recommend this place highly. They serve the best sweet potato fries I have ever had.
