Lovely village pub with big pub garden. great selection of beers and tasty home made food. Dog and child friendly.

·

Under new management. Really good food and fantastic service. The pub feels like a really friendly, family-run business. Excellent baked camembert and great burgers.

·

Good to have it back open, good selection of beers on tap, food was lovely..

·

Excellent pizza great staff.

·

Unexpected good quality pub food in a rural location. Delighted to have white table linen & hand towels in the lavatories. Service was excellent and there was an exciting menu of well cooked food. On a sunny day, the outside area would be most inviting.

It is ok but the photo on here makes it look a light dining room. It's really rather gloomy in November. The room was passable , comfy bed and good duvet and sheets but it looked like it needed some TLC. The shower was a bit mouldy, the shower door didn't work properly and the electric towel rail was dead. The male staff at breakfast appeared to have had customer aversion therapy. The breakfast itself was fine. In the summer the pub garden must be very pleasant.

Decent enough breakfast, but cleanliness could be better in the rooms and for breakfast. You have tea and coffee making facilities, towels were clean but shower less so.An average range of beers, with some ale on tap and a bottled beer selection in the pub. They shut rather early on Sundays so best avoided then if wanting to stay overnight else it is a drive into Saffron Walden itself for anything to do.

this is everything you would expect from an old inn we stayed for 2 nightsLovely open fire with sofas very welcoming especially Leon honestly a very nice genuine guy !Food lunch and dinner is ok what you would expect from pub grub, don’t go for breakfast was disgusting even the mushrooms were re cooked ! And was not worth the money we paidThere was a problem with one meal but was rectified with no problemsNice and tidy but could do with a deep cleanBedroom was small but in keeping with an old coaching innShower and toilet could do with a good limescale removerThis inn is situated in a beautiful part of the country with lots of things going on very peaceful and the drinks a really well priced and a good wide choice! Great atmosphere and staff

Fantastic food and service! The presentation, quantity and quality of the food here is absolutely spot on. I had the Halloumi starter and the Chicken and Ham Pie with Green Beans for main... perfectly cooked. The service was exemplary, the music (Spotify Upbeat Smooth Jazz) was great, the lager was tasty and even the loos were clean, light and nicely decorated! Thank you to owners Claire and Simon for a fabulous 2 hours in their interesting and fun pub!

I've just got home from a night at the Queens Head. Its a small, old quaint English pub. Yes its old, and probably the rooms are small, but that's how old pubs are. Maybe they could update, but I honestly believe that the welcome I received and the overall experience was worth far more then improved decor. (maybe hot showers would be nice, but it was only 1 day, so not the end of the world!) The owners couldn't be more accommodating, and I cannot fault them for their excellent 1-1 service, as if I was the only guest they had. The food was 100% amazing, superb menu and fantastically presented. Given the choice between the Queens Head, and an average hotel, I'd plump for the pub any day. Will happily return.
