Restaurant at The Crown House in Uttlesford

Great location, staff absolutely fabulous . Though now not doing evening meals, the village doe's have two very good pubs off which we chose the Plough and were not disappointed with either the quality of the food or the staff.Breakfast was in the conservatory for us and consists of a buffet style with a good choice.If travelling that way again would not hesitate in staying once more.

Visited for the wedding of my sister and stayed overnight, everything from the room, service, food and venue was amazing but a big thank you to the staff, so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, they went above and beyond making sure the reception was amazing for all the guests. After an amazing night's sleep in a beautiful 4 poster bed we ended the celebrations with a 1st class breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel.

No restaurant, no bar. In the middle of refurbishment. Our room opposite main building, newly decorated. Main hotel shut at 7pm.

We had a wake here for my beloved mother. The people here were simply spectacular in how they let us decorate the room and how they provided delicious (especially the vegan options!) food and let us all just have a wonderful memory. I am so very grateful to you all. Really felt like you were part of the experience rather than just providing a service. My mother would have been so very happy! Thank you.

Very friendly service and beautiful main building, little bit outdated, could do with an update. Also breakfast menu very old-fashioned. Comfortable beds and nice hot water

The staff went out of their way to help us. We were attending a surprise 80th birthday party for my cousin. They arranged taxis to and from the hotel to the venue. The hotel was excellent. Very clean. We had a very nice room with a large bed and a very large walk in shower. Everything needed was thought of in advance. We also had a delicious breakfast - all local produce- for £10 per person. Excellent value. Very highly recommended.

Was a very pleasant experience. The building was very old and quaint, with plenty of character. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and were exceedingly polite and friendly. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

Everything was fine on our first night. staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel a bit dated. Breakfast was okay. Would have been a 4 out of 5 as 3-star hotel. BUT!!! We stayed in the 'Four Poster room'. This room is seperate from another room by a 'fire door' which is basically just a door to another room's bathroom. On the 2nd night this room had occupants. A very loud couple. You can hear everything they say through the door almost as if they are in the room with you (and worse - I won't explain) and you can hear them using the bathroom. I could actually hear them urinate! This is totally unacceptable. You cannot put people in a room where there is another room's bathroom literally the other side of the door.  Just Unbelievable. Do not stay in the 'Four Poster Room unless you want to effectively share a room with strangers.

More of a guest house than fully-staffed 24/7 hotel (but you can occupy room in daytime) but extremely comfortable, clean, modern decor, choice of family room, doubles with bath, twins with shower, no noticeable noise late at night or early morning. Staff extremely helpful and accommodating, better to book direct than using a booking app, more flexibility. Tea/coffee/kettle/TV/free WiFi. Comfy beds. Note it's on the main road and not where android/Google maps directs you but Apple satnav works fine. Some rooms are on the first or second floor, no lift due to being an old building. Plenty of off-road free parking. Full breakfast included.
