Best value food in town, friendly staff, real local pub atmosphere. Why go anywhere else.

Lovely pub, only pop in occasionally lunch times when I’m in the area and it’s just got a proper friendly quiet pub feel. Ales always superb, sat there once with a fantastic pint from the Tring Brewery I think it was, just me and another fella there both reading and just the sound of the clock ticking away in the background. That day was over 10 years ago but it still one of the most memorable pints I’ve had lol. Great place....

Popped in as visiting lovely town of Saffron Walden but told no food on Mondays really !! Letting customers go somewhere else and just after a lockdown

A very nice pub with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Great lunch. Ham was running low but the quality of everything else made up for it. Paige was a fantastic host and looked after us excellently. Will certainly be back to try some other selections from the menu.

This is a lovely family run pub with a great local clientele. The beer is excellent, the staff friendly and there's usually a bit of lively banter going on.

Though this seems to be my second choice in town and has been for decades, I still feel that the bar staff lack warmth. A smile and a hello go a long way while serving beer. The place is famously undecorated, but there is usually a good atmosphere on a Saturday night, or when the bands are playing in their side room. It's also about the only pub that boasts a reasonable outside area.
