The Red Cow in Uttlesford

Been here half a dozen times with partner and had no issues.. nice pub. This time however my friend and I decided to stop for a quick bite after a morning on our bikes.Unfortunately because we were bikers we were judged, forced to sit outside even though there were seats available inside and the staff insisted on taking a card before they would serve us.Giving 2 stars as the food was actually really good.. we would’ve left if we wasn’t so hungry and in a hurry.

A small cosy pub out the countryside, makes for a lovely experience and enjoyable meal. I chose their beef burger that was very juicy with amazing chips. I enjoyed the meal so much and even the desserts were deliciously made bringing love to the meals prepared.The toblerone brownie dessert was warm and chocolatey accompanied with locally sourced ice cream. The brownie was paired with a sweet and delicious salted caramel ice cream helping to cool off the warm brownie slice and beautifully garnished with a strawberry and raspberry.Overall I recommend visiting for lunch and would definitely go back to enjoy some of their fish meals.

What a gem, my wife organised surprise trip for my 73rd Birthday. A night in this wonderful little gem, and then a gig in the Corn Exchange in Cambridge. Here everything is perfect Amelie has paid so much attention to detail. Super beamed room sympathetically restored with a fabulous ensuite bathroom. Everything about this place is unassumed quality in an idyllic peaceful Cambridgeshire village. Top of the list for our next overnight adventure in Cambridge itself.

Really lovely olde worldy pub, lots if character. Food excellent. One down fall the car park is a bit uneven fir high heels and old legs.

Great service. Delicious food. Cozy ambience inside with a thatched roof outside for a uniquely British experience.We took my cousins from Paris here and the manager remembered this from when we made the booking the week prior and spoke to them in French. 😍 How did she remember?? Now that is service!!

Lovely historic country pub great food, arrange of Ales to choose from, friendly staff and locals. I believe it had converted barns to stay b&b would definitely recommend if in the area.

A blonde young waitress, was so lovely and helpful. When we had problems she helped without any hesitation. As the night was approaching the end she started spontaneously doing back flips, I’ve never seen anything like this. The lady would not stop back flipping.

Really nice stay. Our room (Brand room) was spacious, clean and well equipped as was the en suite. The pub is full of charm and character, serves great food and is staffed by some very friendly, polite people. The Pub is located in a nice quiet village yet is only a few minutes away from the likes of Duxford IWM, Audley End House and Wimpole Estate to name but a few. Try it...hopefully you won't be disappointed. Thanks to all concerned.

The setting is excellent - beautiful building, open fire, exposed timbers, well landscaped entrance way.Unfortunately, the service was slow and seemed inexperienced. Completely appreciate it can be a high turnover industry for waiting staff but they were below par.Starter of pate, onion relish and toasted brioche was good yet uninspiring. Mains of burger, chips and onion rings was bland and at £15 didn't feel worth it. Dessert of toblerone cheesecake was good and well balanced with a small and powerful high cocoa chocolate sauce providing a necessary bitterness.Overall, the wait for the food and waiting staff didn't live up to the fantastic setting. A missed opportunity.
