Essex Arms Pub in Watford

Great value food with quick service. Went for a company lunch, three course dinner for £12.50?! That will do, it even included a drink!Loads of outdoor and indoor seating all clean and tidy.Limited parking but not too bad.Would definitely recommend and would 100% go again.

Lovely pub, large outdoor seating and nice indoors too. Ordered food which did take a very long time to arrive. They brought out deserts before we'd even had our main - not sure what happened there but we our food in the end. Roast was ok, but nothing amazing, not a lot on the plate - had to order a lot as extra.

Food was amazing! Even though they were super busy and we had a large party which ordered a lot of food, they were fab! The food was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were busy but never failed to deliver! Thanks so much. We will definitely be going back to the Essex Arms.Keep up the good work!

Vegan Wellington was nice. We enjoyed a lovely sunday lunch here!

It's a nice pub, and it is clean and well kept but it's very badly staffed. There could be 2 bartenders faffing around doing meaningless jobs and watching while one person is stuck behind the bar serving the busy lunchtime rush at a snails pace. They are friendly and helpful but no one just seems to be in any rush to serve you or do anything fast.

Went to a friends birthday here and the pub-supplied buffet was awesome. Not one Aldi dipper in sight. Hand made prawn sarnies in thick bread, black pepper chicken thingies but I can’t remember how many of those cheeky toad-in-the-hole bad boys I ate! Brilliant food by brilliant staff. Thank you!

Typical pub food but good variety. Very good prices. Good range of drinks. Only gave it 3 stars because our lunch took over two hours. The pub appeared under-staffed, but staff were friendly.

Horrendous experience. Staff are rude (apart from one) and uninterested. It was not a busy night. I would understand if they were busy, but there were many empty tables. The staff honestly ruined our evening. We read previous reviews with the same problem, I wish I listened to the reviews and avoided this place.I never leave reviews but I feel this time it’s necessary. This place needs help!It felt like the staff would honestly prefer not having any customers visiting.They genuinely do not enjoy their job or serving customers. We were polite and smiled but we just received a poor attitude back.Lacking a lot of initiative. I actually feel bad for them, as I do not think they have received the correct training. Which could have lead to this low morale in the workplace.Food was not great. Cheaply made and overpriced. If you get ribs they are genuinely smaller than your hand. Never in my life have I seen ribs so small.

Lovely experience at The Essex Arms today, food was lovely and the staff were so helpful and friendly. There were a lot of us (big family gathering) all the food came out at the same time which we were impressed with as at other places we've eaten, at least one person was always left waiting for ages. The food was hot and delicious. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable afternoon. Would definitely visit again and would also highly recommend.

Lovely food, welcoming staff, very clean and lots of open space. Very nice beer garden.Sometimes it's really nice to put an audiobook on and enjoy a lovely Sunday roast.Three courses for £15 and the food is really good so definitely worth.
