Southern Cross in Watford

Came in here from sub-Saharan Africa after decades..My first night wasn’t easy because my body was getting used to the cold weather in Uk.Martha made me so comfortable,she turned the heater on and gave me an extra duvet .Hotel is clean,Food is great!!Thank you Martha for making my stay in Southern cross great and for helping me out with the culture shock..

The Southern Cross is a fantastic, very affordable and welcoming place for accommodation, the rooms are comfortable, clean and fresh. Furthermore, it is a very short and lovely walk to the main station. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning in the future - thank you for a wonderful stay.

Staff nice and friendly - beer ok as well - prices in line with the area. Sports on TV. Only down side for me is: it's a family pub and I'm old(ish) and prefer to drink without other people's children in company - however if you have kids it's a nice place - I just prefer places a bit lower key

I thought that the Southern Cross was quite good. The meal was served in a short time my only complaint was the salad was on the same plate as the hot food so it went droopy otherwise I was satisfied with things there

As a solo traveller staying for 2 nights, the staff really looked after me. All the bar/waitress/waitor staff were very welcoming. The lady whom I assume to be the land lady who looked after me for breakfast was brilliant. The food is tasty and plentiful and the beer tasty and cheap. The room is cheap and cheerful, the only criticism I can offer is that despite leaving the notice on the door the room wasn't cleaned whilst I was out.

Friendly staff, decent parking, though not sure thisbmade up for the lack of a decent meal, 2 steaks ordered, not to bad one well done and one medium which wasn't medium more done. Pudding was served with tasteless ice cream luke warm at best apple pie, and the other was order was custard served at first cold, then asked for it to be hot, warm at best. To be fair the staff were good but thats about the best u can say about eating here.

Nice pub with lots of different activities according to the day of the week. The staff is polite and the food menu has fair prices (cheaper than average and decent quality). The only downside regards the beer pints. It could have more options and the prices could be better to fit the overall value for money the pub offers from the food department. Not that they are expensive, but could be better value so one would spend more time drinking and it would lead them to order more foods. I intended to stay longer but could not afford 5,50 pounds for each pint knowing that there are great pubs with great food menus that charges 1 or 2 pounds a pint and brings more options of beer to the table. Regardless it is a fun, clean e comfortable pub with open mic karaokes at Tuesdays and some other different activities each day of the week. It'a got nice TV for sports watching and a game machine. Definitely a good pub.

Loved the food, everything I tasted was delicious.A feel good atmosphere with trendy songs playing in the background. There’s also a game area.Staff were very polite and service was swift.They have deals for different days and I can’t wait to go taste everything 😂.There’s also a parking lot behind the building.

Lovely place for food, visited for food last week and I was so amazed. The mix grill was perfectly cooked and the millionaires burger was definitely worth it. Finished off with the choctastic sundae. Nice beers aswell & lovely staff. All round nice place to visit, definitely recommend👍👏

Came here on Sunday for a family meal, it was lovely great atmosphere Denise served us our food and we couldn’t fault her, there was a female manager and she was brilliant, making sure everyone was happy not just us but all the surrounding tables aswell, we will definitely be back soon. Great pub
