Beccles Fish Bar in Waveney

Told to wait for chips and then given what can only be described as the s**t out of the bottom of fryer. Used to regularly use but won't be any longer and would advise others not too!!!!!!

Love this chip shop...we travel miles, as a day out to Beccles. We buy our sausage and chips and love the quality and service. What has upset us over and over again is, the wrong info on their website. They never ever give their opening hours over public holidays! It is infuriating to see on the webb-site that they are open and then get there and a little written notice on the door saying "closed for bank holiday". Why can't you post it on your Web site!!!!!! And you never answer your phone.An

I love this chip shop it’s by far the best in town but the blonde girl that works behind the counter need a lesson in customer service, so rude!!! Kindness & manners cost nothing little girl!!

Yes good chippy. Good sausages. Good varied meal. Clean shop. Only I didn't like was the black skin on the fish wish they would take skin off. Can't eat the black skin. Yuk?!!

Such a good chip shop. One of the only places I know that sell real butchers sausages. Delicious!

Had to wait a short while because they were busy, but we'll worth the wait. Ordered 2 small cod and chips, cod was cooked perfect, just melted in the mouth, couldn't eat all the chips, for a small portion there was enough for 2 let alone 1. 10 out 10.

Was looking forward to nice fish and chips. Especially after reading the reviews.What we got were slimey clumps of chips.Thick batter to make the fish look big. Brother ordered a gherkin that wasn't there when we got home.Reason I gave an extra star was that the fish wasn't to bad once I dug it out from the batter.

Have been coming here for over ten years and on the whole the food is decent enough. Used to be consistently excellent, but more recently the quality seems to vary so much.Prices are good, chips are fairly consistent with mostly good portion sizes, sausages are usually very good but you do occasionally get one burned black, same with the scampi. The Cod is generously cut however, and often with good flavour and well cooked but what really lets it down, probably seven times out of ten, is that it isn’t drained long enough before being put into the paper and wrapped up heavy handedly, tighter than a drum. The end result is pulpy, wet batter, mushy fish and soggy chips, saturated in oil. This only seems to be a problem when they’re wrapped though, open is always very good but not worth complaining as it doesn’t change, just got to take your chances really. Never leave without checking your order either, especially if you live out of town as they will forget multiple things, every week, guaranteed.When it’s good it’s fantastic, but when it’s not, it’s inedible. If the fish were well drained, gently wrapped, order slips double checked and just the old standards brought back, I’d have given 5 stars.

Not knocking the quality of the fish or chips or the staff, but phoned an order in for collection yesterday, and wasn't informed it makes no difference to collection as still had to que to pay then wait in line. My purpose of phoning it was so I could collect at said time, not have a further half hour added to my already legthend week!!!!
