Fish was well overcooked Shame I had only heard good things

Very nice. Sat inside. Tasty food. Had the haddock special. Good sized portion. Friendly staff.

Have used Dolphin before and never had much of an issue. Today our lunch ordered through Uber Eats will be our last. We ordered a cheeseburger and chips and a curried pancake roll and chips. Apart from it taking much longer to arrive than it should have done (that might not actually be theur fault), there was nothing good about this meal. The cheeseburger looked as if it had been squashed up in a clenched fist. The curried pancake roll was literally inedible (took one bite and spat it out. It was soggy, and appeared to be nothing but some chopped up onions in an awful "curry" sauce, and was nothing like any other curried pancake roll I've ever had) the chips are usually the best bit of sn order from Dolphin, but today they were hard (not crunchy outside and fluffy inside, but hard like overcooked, or cooked twice). The order was not expensive, but actually ended up being because all but a couple of mouthfulls ended up in the bin.

Usually order and take away but Tuesday evening i decided to go and sit in the restaurant it was lovely and clean. Fish and chips were beautifully cooked to order. Could not believe the size of the fish all this for £9.10. Yum

Was listed as one of the best fish and chip places in Lowestoft and they are not wrong.Went for the standard size and glad we did as don't think would have managed the large.The fish was excellent, tightly battered so there was no parts of the the batter that was just air, and it was cooked to perfection.Good portion of chips accompanies it.Dolphin isn't on the front or on the main street but not far away so if you are looking for a superb dish seek them out, you will not be disappointed.

Found this marvellous chippy the other day at 3pm, when all the other ones in the area were shut. The portions are massive, the quality is excellent with friendly staff. They do scraps here too, I asked for these at another chippy in the area which I won't name and just got stared at. Also I was told at another chippy, which had closed just before I got there that day, that there wasn't anywhere else open. I intend to use this chippy exclusively from now on, you have free parking for half an hour right outside so why go anywhere else?? Great service, great portions and open all day. Why go anywhere else??
