We stayed in the Earl of Sandwich what an amazing bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the location is perfect for Southwold. We both really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone. Only spoke with the cleaning staff and they were all lovely. Only bad thing I could say is breakfast service was a little noisy when I were having a lay in so just get up and have breakfast. I’m sure it was amazing!

We have just had 2 nights at the Sutherland hotel in the suite - WOW. What an amazing place , the room was spotless and stunning with loads of character and out own lounge . Very comfy beds and pillows. Tea, coffee and water in our rooms. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was beautiful with the eggs done to perfection. - even when my husband asked for tomato sauce with his breakfast 😳🙈, lots of laughter and a “tomato reduction” was brought . 😂😂. We stayed for a meal one night and again the choice , staff and food were fantastic. Would recommend anyone to stay and eat here - hope to be back very soon . Well done to everyone involved .

My wife and I managed to book a table for dinner - a must 2-3weeks in advance. We were warmly greeted by the hosts who made us feel very welcome. The beer/gin/wine selection was broad and nicely balanced. We had the salmon and soup to start which were both balanced and just the right size portion. For our mains we had the hake and fritters, which were were excellent. We ordered two sides as well which unfortunately filled us up so there was no room for dessert but the options looked great. We will have to come back to try them!

We booked dinner for last Saturday evening. We were extremely well received, good conversation and laugh with the staff. Really enjoyed a nice indulgent dinner. Nice small restaurant, only few tables and highly recommended

A nice warm dining room with plenty of customers on a Saturday night. We were welcomed with ‘the rules’, to be out by 9pm ‘because we’re short staffed’. This is an expensive restaurant with added extras, veg, mash etc. We both had belly pork and it was truly awful. I’ve had better school dinners (and I’m a teacher). £63 for one course and two glasses of wine. This is a holiday resort and you need to up your game. Buyer beware!

The Garden room was beautifully decorated. It was lovely and warm, the the biggest, most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.We had our evening meal in the restaurant , it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was spotless with a good space between tables. Service was friendly and efficient. We also had the full English breakfast in the morning, again the service and food was superb.Would defiantly stay and eat here again, wonderful place

Great place, super cozy rooms. Felt relaxed from the moment I walked in. The time in the free standing bathtub was a magical experience. The owner is very kind and even speaks a little Polish, I left my coat in a room and had no problem retrieving it. We also received a champagne since it was out anniversary. Family run business that main focus is to provide the most relaxing stay for their guests.

We had dinner at the Sutherland. It was superb. The service was spectacular, food was amazing and the pudding which had been cooked by the owners wife was worthy of a 3 star restaurant. We had such a lovely evening. P.S. your wife should enter the great British bake off, I bet she'd win!

Perfect location in the middle of Southwold. Enjoyed our stay in the garden room which was well furnished with a small private area outside. Everywhere was was well kept and felt very safe. The staff and owner were helpful and friendly.Great cooked breakfast. Lookforward to eating there in the evening as well next time.

Stayed for 2 nights in the Garden Room and had dinner in the outside restaurant on one of those nights. The room was great, bed super comfy and amazingly clean. The food in the restaurant was also top notch. The scallops were unreal and the ambience in the garden was beautiful on a sunny summer evening. What was also great was that the owner gave us a disclaimer that the wild halibut was more of a meaty fish which although wouldn’t have informed our choices, definitely was a positive.Would have no hesitation in recommending this place and we will definitely be coming back to stay whenever we are in Southwold.
