Really pretty place with the terrace right by the river. Food is very good, tasty and we'll presented with some interesting flavour combinations such as melon anise sorbet. The Head Chef came out to deliver the amuse bouche personally and spent time talking to us about produce which was a lovely touch. The only reason I have marked it down is the toilets are upstairs so it wasn't as accessible as it could be. However, the staff happily drove the golf buggy round to the front entrance where the loos are on the same level (the Terrace and Restaurant are a level down) and then it's a short distance to the toilets. They were also happy to drive the golf buggy to the car park to deliver less mobile guests such as my mother-in-law so service was also excellent.

Service was superb and the food was incredibly well presented. Our sommelier was polite and friendly, and obviously very knowledgeable

Lovely location and building, though very hard to find in the dark and rain! Service very good, staff were lovely. Food a little disappointing, main course wasn't very hot (and plate didn't seem to be warmed); dessert was a little over baked and dry. Was rather surprising bearing in mind the usual quality, but my friend thought it was wonderful.

What a surprise! I booked this restaurant for my wife's birthday, for a Sunday lunch. Needless to say we had a fantastic time. The staff was welcoming and the location amazing (what a view the lake). We got seated and had great food and wine. We had trout and crab as starter and the roast beef for main; we finished with the gingerbread sandwich and an hazelnut polenta cake as dessert, all incredibly tasty. We had a coffee to finish, perfectly made for my Italian palate. They brought us a happy birthday pair of chocolates for my wife's birthday, with a candle: much appreciated. After lunch we went for a walk, beautiful scenery. I'll definitely plan some tee time up there. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for a celebration or just a great meal.

Very posh place in a beautiful setting. The restaurant is overlooking a lake and serves "boutique food" as I call it.It would make a good choice if you're looking for a sophisticated meal. No vegetarian options on the menu and portions are tiny as you'd expect for this type of a restaurant. Expensive. We didn't however liked it too much because it was too fancy, very noisy and lacking of atmosphere.Crab starter and chocolate dessert were delicious tho!Pictures below are of two mains: beef rib and cod.

Probably one of the best desserts I've had in a few years. Great ambience. Would recommend having a drink/coffee either before or after meal on the terrace over looking the lake.

One of the best experiences in a restaurant lately!! Food look amazing, taste marvellous and environment was sophisticated. Highly recommend.

Food was good, a lovely location, and in the restaurant the staff are attentive. But second rate customer service by the front of house team means I give this restaurant only two stars. Firstly, our pre dinner drinks took absolutely ages to arrive, a fact not noticed by the two members of the front of house team, and we had to ask them to check where our drinks were. Secondly, my daughter is vegan and, despite phoning in advance to tell them, and being advised the chef would put together a choice of vegan options for her, she was given the vegetarian menu which didn't have many choices on it, and none of the mains were vegan. When we asked for the vegan choices we were told she could choose something off the veggie menu and they would leave out the non vegan bits. Of the choice of two mains, one was 'Slow Cooked Hens Egg', so not sure how that would have worked! The attitude of the front of house staff when I discussed this with them was unhelpful - their initial response included "we had a vegan in for lunch and the menu was fine for them"! It took some time and persuasion for them to go talk to the chef and request a dish be adapted for her. (In the end my daughter really enjoyed her meal, but I'm surprised a restaurant like this isn't more up to speed with today's dietary trends). In summary, at these prices I think it's fair to expect first rate service, but the lack of attention and responsiveness we experienced from the front of house team at the beginning really took the edge off our evening. I suggest Auberge du Lac runs some staff fresher training in what good customer service looks like.
