Lemon Plaice in Welwyn Hatfield

After trying many fish and chip shops around Welwyn garden even Stevenage this place I’ve got to say has Toped the mark 10/10 on fish and the chips, would highly recommend the Irish curry sauce everything cooked to perfection and after ordering great with timing will definitely be returning prices are good for the quality of food

Omg Best fish ever, I was in the area staying in an Airbnb , we decided to visit this chop shop , once we arrived we decided to eat in, I absolutely love the fact the skin had been removed from the fish , Also the batter was so crispy and tasty, honestly the best fish & chips I’ve had in years , we’ve left the area now, but will 100% be back, it’s definitely worth the drive

Despite COVID The Lemon Plaice has marched on ensuring our favourite takeaway is available as always. Unlike some chippies they also take contactless - so you don't have to carry bundles of cash. Our tennis club regular places an order for 25 portions of F&C for our Friday Night Tennis Social. No other chippie in the area tastes so good. None of your greasy batter and chips. Everything cooked to perfection. The best example of an original British takeaway.

People giving 5 stars, have clearly never left the village and tried other fish and chips....massively over priced for what it is. Scampi was overdone and a very small portion.... Chips were average at best and also a small portion in comparison with others. The only half decent thing was the gravy. Waited 50 minutes for it too, so Definitely won't be back.

Reasonable fish and chips but very long wait just to get served and then further wait while it cooks. Fish is good and chips are OK. I have been looking for somewhere that does crispy chips that aren't too oily and saggy. These chips are better than some other chip shops but still not the style I'm looking for so need to keep looking.
