Missed opportunity - lovely building, decor and vibe, with the potential to be an East Lothian must. It feels like it’s fighting against its own cafe, perhaps trying to focus on the bakery side of the business. Food and drink choice is serious limited and as other reviews reveal mostly all gone before noon. I love a simple menu, but to offer fresh bagels and bread without any flexibility to choice of toppings or fillings seems like a missed opportunity. Shelves half filled and customer service that seems disgruntled to have customers asking questions. However, coffee and cakes are exceptional - but please stock appropriately as most visitors are driving to visit the cafe and it’s a waste of everyone time to arrive at a beautiful cafe and be disappointed.I encourage the owners to reach out to this cafe in Aberdeenshire who have a similar offer and situation, but have seem to nailed the customer offer and experience - tarmachancafe.com

This is one place you cannot miss out if you are on the east coast of Scotland , great bakery with some great produce freshly baked , a lovely twist on the croissants with pistachio filling , cakes and more ! The coffee is lovely too ! You may feel it’s pricy only till you experience the taste !

Cruffins, croissants and buns to die for. Have recommended to many. The staff in the NB store are welcoming. Didnt find the lady that served us in the EL one quite so amenable.

Excellent bread and cakes, cannot recommend enough but sadly I always find the customer service could be improved generally.Today we sat in and the throw away single use Vegeware ( albeit commercially compostable) sadly detracted from my experience so wanted to feedback, as I personally really do think for sit in customers there should be the option to have non throw away crockery, cups and cutlery ( plus with the prices you charge). I appreciate this may be covid related and if so I hope soon you will revert back to glasses etc soon.

I go every Tuesday with my grandson for cinnamon buns and hot chocolate can't rate this bakery highly enough. Sourdough bread is fantastic along with Almond Crescants

Get there early as they sell out by lunchtime. Although it is quite pricey the bakeries are exceptional and I really enjoyed the croissants and sausage roll. Lots of unusual flavours. Sadly the cafe area is not currently open.

Wonderful bread, cakes and coffee. The staff are always helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. You can buy pickles, kimchi, honey products, lentil crisps, non-dairy milk and chocolate. And at Christmas they have Xmas puddings and mince pies. First rate !

Great bakery, with really interesting deli products to try. Allergen information also really good. Sitting outside isn't great due to being straight onto the car parking and road, and if you're cycling, worth noting there's no visible, secure cycle parking to lock your bike up to.

Very good artisan bakery and coffee shop. Nice sourdough bread, pastries, cakes, speciality coffees and teas. The car park is very spacious. Some people may think it is expensive but I would say that you get what you pay for. It is with every penny.

What to choose? Well we shared a fabulous sausage roll with real meat and a v light buttery puff pastry. We took home this doughnut for afters and unlike most doughnuts this has filling in it. The bakery is a great stop off on the way down the A1 from Scotland.
