My mother and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Even has non golfers we enjoyed our time! It is a great distance from shops, cafes, and restaurants, and of course the beach! Our service was amazing for our entire stay! We had an afternoon tea here which was amazing and we also dinned for a dinner which was also delicious! Their breakfast which we were sadly only able to have once was just as good as all their other food had been. The rooms were great, very spacious and kept very well. Overall a great hotel experience even for non golfers.

A lovely old worldly hotel with well trained, polite and friendly staff. We didn't eat in the restaurant, only had breakfast, there was a very good choice which was professionally served and tasted delicious. Our cottage room was warm, very clean and spacious.

Menu was extremely dated when I went. The space is lovely but a bit dated. If it doesn’t change it’s chime it will be lost to other more modern options around gullane and north Berwick

Absolutely excellent location for Muirfield. Wonderful character feel to the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of beers and whisky. Lovely breakfast. Had a single room which was a bit small

Had a very good 2 night stay. Lovely location, good food, staff were all excellent. Room could do with a bit of a refresh and bed was very uncomfortable.

Stunning building and gardens, the hotel definitely has the wow factor from the outside. However felt slightly let down by the quality of Greywalls once we were inside. Stayed Nov-21Pros:Beautiful building & GardensBathrooms clean and niceCosy bed, had a great nights sleepRoom temperature goodRobes provided in roomPianist in the library was greatStaff very friendly, service good throughout stay.Evening meal was nice, all 3 courses enjoyable, although found the black pudding & lentil combination odd for the starter.Fantastic fireplaces and were sat by them to enjoy our canopies.Great location and brilliant views over the golf course.Cons:Expensive - meal, rooms, drinks all overpricedNo coffee making facilities in roomRoom was dark in the evening, had to put TV on for additional lightTV signal didn’t work & was unwatchableGlasses by the bed were greasy£15 for cocktails which were tasty but not perfect (undissolved sugar at bottom of old fashioned)£35 for half bottle of wine which a quick google search suggests they probably buy for around £4.50 (that said I found it to be a nice red)£23.50 for breakfast, decent full scottish but again seems expensive. No background music in the dining room, sitting rooms or bar. Felt there was limited atmosphere. No draft beer! £6.50 for a bottle of PeroniWe were struggling to close room windows properly, bathroom window swung open during the night (although was particularly windy)Hotel could be done with a general touch up (some cracked paint, peeling wallpaper, carpets could be done with a good clean)

Came for Afternoon Tea in one of the Garden rooms and was a great experience. The cakes, scones, sandwiches, arranchini and sausage roll were all delicious.

Dreadfully poor stay. Stayed in the supieor cottage. Linen was so old there were holes and the staff had obviously put the good side on the bed and torn side underneath.Room was cold. Tired looking. No tea making facilities to be found.Breakfast we were told to help ourselves to the continental table … and found nothing really continental about it. Few bowls of cereals, large bowl of yogurt to spoon from, a bowl of cut of fruit and some fresh juices. There are 2/3 star hotels which provide more. Even a banana. And separate yogurt pots. But here nothing. It was dismal.Breakfast menu. Even worse. Nothing on there for vegetarians or Vegans. My smoked salmon was tasteless. No toast. Just sliced up bread.Ridiculously overpriced for not a lot.Service was slow too.Probably the worst 4 star hotel stay I’ve been since 2012.Best part was the walk around the garden.

Our room had no tea making facilities till asked for. Tissues were missing also had to ask for them. Meals were first class. Breakfast turned into a marathon 1 hour and 35 minutes. Delicious food . Extremly slow service. Staff seemed strained and this made the place feel unwelcoming.
