This restaurant is closed. The phone message suggests they're still taking bookings etc but we showed up last night thinking our booking was secure to find a notice in the window saying they're closed due to a structural problem with the building that's indefinite.

Nice Italian restaurant, plenty to choose from. Extensive drinks menu, including cocktails. Service friendly. Prices a little more than you would usually pay in Tranent. Food was lovely.

I was having a truly miserable Covid birthday. This takeaway meal couldn't have been better, truly delicious food, completely uplifted my spirits and excelled my expectations. The only exception was the tiramisu, not authentic, light but forgettable, unlike the main meal and salad. I'll definitely be booking a table in the future, well done to the chef tonight. p.s. can you have a go at original home made tiramisu?

Just moved to Tranent, popped in for lunch. Fantastic food, attentive staff, will certainly be back.Update: We did indeed keep going back! Since I first reviewed been back many times, it's a wonderful place. Family friendly (we have an insane/evil toddler which they are lovely about), Pizzas are perfect, pasta is great. Staff are friendly, service is ways good. 5*

First time here and enjoyed our visit. Restaurant looks great as does the menu. Good selection of Italian favourites and the food looked and tasted amazing. Service was a little slow, but the staff were really busy and friendly, so possibly a staffing issue due to current situation. Will definitely visit again soon.

The food and staff were beautiful and lovely. They went the extra mile to help celebrate my mum's birthday. Made her day. Only con was it was freezing, but there's a storm and the doors swing. But the staff did their very best. Overall very lovely and will come again.

A really lovely meal at sensible prices (lobster ravioli and a lasagne with garlic focaccia followed by tiramisu). It was a Friday night and was busy which created good vibes but the staff were very much on it and we weren’t neglected at all.Deffo a place to visit if you’re in the area. 👌🏻

Had a lovely meal here, the calamari starter wasn't chewy and my pizza main was huge. Very nice flavour. An added surprise I wasn't expecting was they started their eat out to help out so our bill for 3 people was £53 instead of £86! Even without the discount it was well worth it. Will definitely be going back again.

Delicious meal, great service and such a treat to be able to walk there from our house so we could enjoy a drink with our meal. So fortunate to have Giancarlo's on our doorstep!
