Halimah Indian Restaurant in East Lothian

This has to be one of Scotlands best Indian Restaurants.Amazing food, with friendly staff that are very helpful at explaining each dish and it origins. The restaurant specialises in Bangladesh Cuisine, but many other dishes are available from their very comprehensive menu.We were met and greeted by the owner, Ali, who made us feel very welcome, showing us to a comfortable table.Menus and drinks were delivered promptly while one of the waiters helped with explanations on the dishes we chose.Both courses arrived with perfect timing. We chose Bengali Shish Kebab and Meat Samosa as starters, followed by South Indian Chicken, and Naga Lamb for the main. Instead of a plain rice dish, we ordered Prawn Biriani. All of the food was simply sublime.I would definitely recommend visiting. A definite 10/10

The food is very average. One out of at least 6 staff were wearing masks, despite signs up all over the place explaining that it’s mandatory to wear a mask. Try Number 7 for a nice curry in Haddington

Excellent meal and the service was first class. Reasonable price. We couldn't finish all the food and the staff gave us a takeaway with a free nan bread which was very generous. Will certainly return.

Great curry, Dahl n ginger chicken in particular

Consistently good 'Indian' takeaway starters and curries - our favourites are the mixed kebab starter and the Naga Lamb & Chicken Madras main.

Always great food always great service if you like an Indian and your in East Lothian this is the place to go! Takeaways always exceptional they do tapas during the week at lunch times and a buffet on Sundays Bose recommended!

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years with my grandparents (who live down the road). Perhaps I am blinded by pleasant nostalgia, but this is a great curry house with friendly staff, understated yet tatseful decor, and delicious dishes. Also, the Sunday buffet, the price of which hasn't seemed to have changed since 2005, is an absolute bargain. Thanks for the great night.

We decided to go to Eastern Eye for my stepdad's birthday. As soon as we arrived, we realized that we were getting ignored by the waiting staff. It took nearly 30 minutes for our orders to be taken. Once the orders were eventually taken, we then waited for over an hour until the starters arrived. There was no explanation why it was taking so long. We were just getting ignored and were not even offered any drinks while we waited. The vegetarian starters were mixed with the meat starters. Once we finished our starters, it took over an hour for the main course to arrive and still, no drinks taken and no explanation for the wait. It was not even worth waiting for as it was all watery and not even that tasty. Towards the end of our meal, a different, very young waiter appeared who was really friendly and attentive, but it was too late to save my stepdad's birthday. I hope this young gentleman will find a better job.

I've been going to this Indian now for about 15 years and have never ventured elsewhere as the food is just too good. In all those years only once have I been disappointed after arriving home to discover I had the wrong curry. Staff are brilliant and you don't have to wait long for your meal. The restaurant itself is comfortable and clean and great for group booking and family occasions. I just wouldn't go anywhere else. If you like a hot and slightly sweetened curry try the Goan chicken it's my all-time favourite.
