Shish Mahal in East Lothian

Nice average meal. Price has shot up. I guess its due to the high gas and electricity bills. But worth a visit.

The food was very good however the service was lackadaisical at best, the waitress showed little interest in us and had poor hygiene levels, e.g. handling cutlery at the eating end and glasses with her fingers on the inside, post moving boxes of stock around.

The best restaurant ever. Idris and kamaal are lovely. Foods amazing, nice clean restaurant. Wouldn't go anywhere else

Food always decent. Should offer a better variety of condiments with popadoms like other Indian restaurants. The owner spend 30mins on face time loudspeaker that was a big distraction. Great service when kamal is on shift but it’s tough otherwise. Wouldn’t buy a coffee as it’s instant and cheap

I enjoyed my food, my friends not so, waiter dumped rice on table scattering it, slow service, flat atmosphere, place is dirty, floor slippery, ladies is a joke with dust and dirt, toilet floor corners looked like they hadn't been cleaned for yrs, same with everything,no staff wearing masks, It looked and felt to us that take away was the main priority, poor show! Really nice food and service but 30 quid for 1 bottle of cobra and 4 pints on diet coke was a joke, luckily I was just on holiday visiting as would never go back.

Do not order a delivery unless you have a spare 2 and a half hours to wait. Twice I've ordered and twice they take an eternity to deliver. There won't be a third time.

I stay 5mins by cycle. Ordered £50 for food at 5pm by 6 pm I called they said 5 mins be there. After 6. 30 I went down they would not refund me. After back n forth they agreed to refund me. Job done. I then looked at my online banking they did refund 50 however they also took another 50 and refused to refund. So if ur happy to have 2 hrs delay and also have payment taken twice then this place is for u. Terrible service in all areas. So I got a reply today from them and they accused me me of lying. When I came in I was spoken to in English however when I raised the complaint the manager and staff spoke with each other in non English which is completely unacceptable. Again don't expect any comeback. I would never recommend this place to anyone it's just give me ur money

We absolutely love the food from Shish Mahal. The friendly staff always aim to please and nothing is ever too much. We have never had a bad experience to date.If you're in the area, do give it a try. Even if you're not local to it, it's well worth the short drive to Musselburgh just on the outskirts of Edinburgh. There is free parking available directly outside.The purees are a MUST try especially the chicken & prawn ones! Actually the chickpeas too......all 3 are just delish! 3 of our favourite items from their starters menu! You can't have a Shish Mahal without their Special Purees.Highly recommended for a night out if you like good traditional Pakistani/Indian cuisine. They also offer a collection or delivery service with friendly courteous drivers.Trust me when I say you will definitely be back for more. It's also highly advisable to book in advance when the races are on because it's always a full house!Hats off to the entire team at Shish Mahal. Well done 👏

Food was fantastic best korma I have ever had. Service was brilliant. Food and service was that good that a £20 tip was going to be left, but they did not return with the £4.90 change from the bill so ended up with that as there tip instead. (You missed out lads) will be back again for sure.
