Very nice rooms and the food in the bar was excellent. I'll definitely be back.

Booked in for Sunday lunch following a dog walk having had a nice meal here before. On arrival, the chap who welcomed us proceeded to make a bit of a fuss about the dog being with us, as he had put us in the restaurant, however reassured us we could sit on one of the multiple empty tables in the pub - all fine. This was appreciated, however the further exchange was unnecessary and quite inappropriate. When he came to bring menus over, he pointed out he’d need the table back by 4, as we were in a different area to planned…this was actually longer than what we were expecting based on the online booking(?), I apologised for not having mentioned the dog, but suggested there wasn’t an obvious notes section or I would have done this (I’ve been a dog owner for many years and am very vigilant about this), he basically argued with me and said it is obvious - arguing with the customer? Not a great start. No water offered to the dog, even though it was busy. No cutlery or salt and pepper brought - we were essentially treated like second class citizens. The Sunday roast itself was fine. The meat was nice, however not great value for money, considering the roast potatoes were not really roast potatoes, there was only quite overboiled veg, and no sides on offer such as cauli cheese. Perhaps I wouldn’t have been so underwhelmed by the food had we not been made to feel so unwelcome (even though I was initially happy to accept that they were accommodating us!).I used to recommend this place to all of my friends - such a shame.

Very friendly staff and a lovely place. The menu was very limited but what I did have, I thoroughly enjoyed. I had the steak and even though there wasn't peppercorn sauce on the menu, they still managed to make it for me. Hopefully they expand the menu as I've seen lots of amazing looking food on their Facebook page and would love to go back again.

Stayed in their rental cottages for a few days. Had a great few days with the family . Food in the pub was excellent . This is an independent business working hard and getting it right. Well done folks. Thanks again Barry

Lovely village Inn. Good selection of beers. We were there on a Wednesday night when they have a 2 steak and bottle of wine for ÂŁ30 which was good value and really well cooked.Stayed 2 nights in The Gallery room which was a very clean room with a big walk in shower and roll-top bath. Nicely presented and would definitely book that room again if in the area.Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice and again very well cooked.Landlord/Owner was very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. Bar staff also friendly but the problem with this Covid thing is that you can't see if they or smiling at you or swearing at you (only joking).Overall we would recommend the Crown & Kitchen for a stay in this area.
