Ok so it’s a little high end and it is priced as such. Went for earlier menu for £50 and added a cheese course for £15 more. The cheeses were tiny however truly delicious. The service was incredible and I left the needed extra to tip £20 for us since tip was not added. The portions are gourmet tiny however so many flavors! It is worth the trip. Wish I understood that the higher cost menu later had other options so it wasn’t just time of night. They offer 3,4, or 5 course dinners. Drinks were good however a little overpriced

Me and my girlfriend decided to go for a nice late evening dinner. It started really nice, as we entered we were introduced by a lady who I believe was the manager and took our jackets. We were seated and that's when the issues started. Now the first things I'm going to comment on are purely trivial and due to personal taste so shouldent hold to much weight on the review. The decor is dated and looks very 80s esc. The tables had weird rock statues on them and there were 70s style wine coolers. Now for the bigger issuesThe amuse bouche, tomato jelly, olive tapanard and a horseradish cream foam. The jelly was too tough the tapanard was under seasoned and the foam was just confusing when paired with the other parts of the dishThe risotto was the only decent course. But again it was disappointing, another foam that tasted great but felt out of place and completely encompassed the flavour of the risotto. The risotto was nice but under seasoned and was just a bit blandThe beef. Wow this was the most disappointing dish of them all. Dry literally no salt and surrounded by uninspired vegetables. A carrot sauce that didn't even taste like carrot. Raw bell pepper and what tasted like McDonald pickles that felt really out of place. The over arching issues of the entire experience was, food that just didn't make sense together, and unseasoned ingredientsThe desserts were good but just good, I'd enjoy a costa muffin moreThe final thing I'll end with is that the staff were lovely and polite and there were no issues with them. But £170 for my self and girl friend to go back to the hotel staving and not even having enjoyed the food is honestly abhorrent. This is the 5th fine dining restaurant I've eaten at, including 3 1 Micheline star restaurants. I work in this industry and I would be ashamed to send that food to the table

My wife and I had dinner tonight at 21212 and we were blown away from initially the warm welcome we received and throughout the whole service, all staff were very attentive, onto the Food, wow, every single course was outstanding also Paul kitching helped prepare our dinner and the food was so good we can’t decide what was our favourite course, thanks for the whole team for making our experience so lovely, we will definitely come back

Really amazing and interesting food. Great wine, fab service. Great night out.Ie.. tomato and potato soup, where the tomato is a foam and the potato the finest creamed potato ever, with a most juicy miniature and slightly orangey whole tomato on top.. you are in for a treat. The other food was also amazing but this one stuck out in my mind. Brilliant! Coming again

Wow!This is a proper indulgent treat and you won’t be disappointed. We went with friends and we’re lucky to get what equated to a private dining room. The food is just amazing and the staff make you feel like royaltyFantastic evening

An exceptional fine dining experience, situated around the concept that there are 2 options for the first, third and fifth courses (hence the name). Our experience was delightful, as we both had a five course meal with wine.As a highlight, the main course of pork tenderloin was beautifully slow cooked and finished off in a pan. Unobtrusive service and an excellent selection of wines cap an amazing experience.

We had breakfast here recently - style over substance this time. A very limited menu and really no vegetarian options other than basic granola + yogurt and boiled eggs on toast - all normally nice if at home, but really not value for money here. Service also very frosty and polite requests handled reluctantly through gritted teeth - perhaps they were having a bad morning.

Lovely evening with wife and youngest daughter, high curving Georgian Edinburgh Crescent on the side of Carlton Hill with views across the Forth, beautifully evocative room with ambience and courteous able staff. The 21212 concept really works, tasty and delightful visual and gustatory surprises, felt pleasantly satisfied after each of the five courses and the little surprises in between. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Wonderful dinner. Perfect service and really interesting food with perfectly matched wine. The best in Edinburgh as far as we are concerned. Service was speedy and professional. Small and intimate dinning room. We will be back again as soon is we can arrange it. Well done to all the staff.

Lovely visit! The entire staff was so fantastic, which made our dinner all the more enjoyable. We had the tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed the creative flare to all the dishes. Portion sizes were perfect. Atmosphere is a bit on the formal side, but overall wonderful experience would love to visit again.
