Bijou in Edinburgh

This used to be my regular breakfast place back in 2012-13 when I lived in the city and it was the best breakfast joint in all of Edinburgh. I came back today, 10 years later, as I was in Edinburgh for work. I don't know how it's physically possible, but the breakfast is even better than I remember. This is absolutely the best veggie breakfast in Scotland.

My experience of this place was sensational!The waiter took me and my daughter on a trip to Paris with his linguistic games and made us feel very welcome and treasured bless him.He went the extra mile and enriched their butter croissant on sale with magic chocolate for my daughter - she's 6yo and trully delighted by the gesture.I found it very kind and sweet too, as well as my extra soft and warm cinnamon bun.Nice coffee in big portions and the area well ventilated and looked after.Bijou Bistro is a very lovely place for a pit stop from Leith Links shenanigans, thank you for being there for us 🌹

Went as a farewell dinner with my parents on their vacation - the food was amazing - we had the charcuterie board, mushroom gnocchi (sooo soo sooo good), fish cake, and fish and chips and finished with a sticky toffee pudding. A true hidden gem in Leith and now my new favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The food however doesnt even compare to the atmosphere, James the owner/server/wine expert/floor show, made us feel at home immediately and was probably the best part of the night - Thank you to Bijou for making the end of our vacation memorable - We will definitely be back many times and will recommend that everyone come here for delicious food and a fun evening.

Ordered a soup, the best of its kind - Celeriac, Thyme and Tain cheddar. Great friendly service and a delight to sit by the links on a sunny afternoon for lunch!

Fantastic food, excellent atmosphere and it feels like being at home in place of a restaurant James is such a fabulous host and can't recommend his restaurant highly enough.

Love this place - the 'Leither' breakfast is epic! The team are all lovely and it's just an alp round fab place. 👍

Fabulous doubler breakfast roll in here, in fact it is more than a doubler!! I had sausage and tattie scone......which was tattie scone, sausage, another tattie scone then another sausage! Fab coffee too. Very cosy atmosphere, just what was required on a crisp autumn morning. Owner very welcoming, would highly recommend if you are in the Leith Links area.

We organised a private dinner for a group of around 25 of us on a Saturday evening, and what an amazing success the evening was. The host and owner Jamie was tremendous at making us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived, we pre ordered the food which was amazing so we didn't sample the main menus, it was a relaxed and fun environment so everybody felt welcome and happy to be there. I can imagine it is equally relaxed for an intimate dinner too, so thank you Jamie for making it a very special night for us. Thoroughly recommend a visit and very worth while going slightly off the beaten track to find it, and getting something less formulaic than other restaurants offer.

My sister and I had Sunday lunch here, she is celiac so can't eat gluten but they adapted one of their dishes for her. We had fish and chips (my sister's fish without the batter), followed by gluten-free chocolate fudge cake and ice cream freshly churned that morning - both delicious. Our waiter was very helpful and kept us amused with his banter between courses. They even had 50's pop music on their sound system - just our era. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, will go again.

Lovely small bistro in Leith with daily specials. We were impressed by the food, staff, and kitchen. We were there on a Saturday night and there was only one person in the front and one person in the kitchen. I was very impressed at around!
