Charwood Grill in Edinburgh

Food was good, had a 2 hour slot at the table, but after waiting 17minutes to have our order taken we were then hastled for the last 30 minutes by the Head waiter (that's what he told us he was) reminding us we had to leave in 30 minutes, this was before we had even had the menu for dessets, so there was no chance of coffee.Very disappointing experience, and l will neither be back nor recommend to anyone

Charwood is as great as ever! Lovely, friendly staff, great food all freshly prepared, and even with a function next door, service was as slick as ever. Great job guys, be back soon!

Sadly, visited for the wake after a funeral, buffet was quite good, decent selection and very tasty food, bar was a bitty slow as only 1 barperson able to serve around 60 to 70 people!!An unfortunate choice by the management, however, as it happens the day went quite well .

Was here for our Christmas staff meal out. & can say we had a terrible experience. Only got asked once for drinks during our time here! No staff asked how our meal was! Christmas portion was so small had to get a take away afterwards! We where sat at cold drafty window! French manager was incredibly rude! Charging a service charge without consent! Want a good tip then provide a good service! Most of our meal we didn’t get when we ordered it! We haven’t had a staff meal for years & this was just a terrible experience! & if you’re vegetarian don’t bother coming here as portion sizes are smaller than a kids happy meal. Sorry but I would not recommend

Before leaving Edinburgh we searched for some nice place to eat and found this one. Staff was polite and welcoming given that we didn't book a table beforehand.I was surprised to read some negative one-star feedback here. Our experience was really great. Perhaps, because only a third of tables were occupied but our food came very fast and was really delicious.Both buttered haddoc and smoked Scottish salmon were some of the best we have had. Well done and thank you very much!

Great late lunch we had, pizza we ordered was from a real oven and the sundae deserts were to die for.They have kids menus too. Will be back

Charwood is a restaurant & bar in the south of Edinburgh, with a large outdoor terrace area, in addition to the main indoor bar and restaurant space. It's nicely decorated in a contemporary style. The outdoor area is quite tranquil with attractive water features and well maintained plants & flowers right around the building. The staff are generally friendly and the service is quick. The menu is very large, and there's something to suit all tastes. The quality of the food is reasonable but not exceptional. It's not really possible to make additions or changes to the dishes when ordering because everything is pre-made, we were told. There was nothing the matter with our food but it wasn't particularly fresh. It's standard pub style food. Nothing wrong with it, but probably a little over-priced for what you get. They do have a drinks menu with a good range of wines, beers and cocktails but they aren't able to make anything off-menu, like an aperol spritz for example. Overall, I wasn't disappointed by my experience but I wasn't particularly impressed either. I will probably return in the future, maybe just for a light lunch or some drinks, but that's mostly because the location is very convenient for me rather than because of anything particularly appealing about the restaurant itself. Perhaps the second visit will be more impressive and change my mind, let's see! 🍴🍷

We went there for the first time yesterday. We had a late lunch 🥙. I went for the Tex Mex burger and the husband for some pasta with mushrooms & ham. We had a starter, main and coffees and paid about £40 for the table. The staff was lovely, friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is spacious and a great option for lunch while social distancing in these times of COVID. It is also a family-friendly restaurant which is good to know. We will come back 🙂

We ordered 2 x pizza to go along with fish and chips last weekend in February. The booking system is excellent with the collection slot being 10 minutes. I arrived on time and everything was piping hot and ready to be taken away. Overall really impressed with the set up and quality of food excellent as ever. Recommended for a lockdown treat in South Edinburgh!
