Chez Jules in Edinburgh

Go for the three course lunch menu and you will not be disappointed. They have a great atmosphere, fantastic service and very enjoyable food, all for a very good price.

We ate here for our final meal in Edinburgh, and so pleased we did - certainly saved the best place for last! We had the fillet steak with fries and dauphinois potatoes. Really enjoyed the meal, food was great. Service friendly. I loved the candlelit table and dimmed lighting. Only complaint is that the restaurant was very loud with chatter and the music being played was also very loud. We had to shout to hear each other. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the meal.

Very popular but got a table for one at 12:40 without issue.Complimentary salad and dressing, olives and rosette de lyon were brought quickly to the table.Ordered from the lunch menu (got two courses for £7.90) with a large glass of house red it came to £15.50.Order the French onion soup with grueyre crouton. Rich and beautiful, this soup was delicious.The steak frites arrived shortly after. The steak was delicious and a good helping of frites with a heady pepper sauce all washed down with that lovely house red that filled about 2.5 glasses.Service was excellent and quick. The decoration is chaotic and charming and the atmosphere is bussling.Would definately recommend and will visit again.

Fantastic value, 2 3-course meals, and a bottle of wine all for £36.75. Busy little place so a bit slow in places with service but overall very enjoyable!

Really authentic French bistro. The decor is great. Had lobster for the first time and it was delicious - can deffo recommend the surf and turf! Will go back next time I'm in Edinburgh. Wine was great too.

Great service and very cheap for food this good. We did not have a reservation and they found table for us anyway, but it was very full, so I would suggest to book before you go.

Never expected to find a French resto so 'French' in Edinburgh!Went there for lunch time, which gets really noisy and packed. This is probably due to the famous Lunch deal for 3 courses for £9.90, du jamais vu!For entree, I recommend the Terrine. The onion soup was a miss for me, too salty unfortunately.Steak and fries was delicious, they won't ask you how you want your steak to be cooked. They will cook it as medium-rare as how it should be eaten (well-done meat eaters be aware!).Dessert was my favourite part so far. Mousse au chocolat has a small hint of liquor that gives an amazing flavour to it. It is subtle yet it is a great addition. The panacotta was also flavourful, great texture.Overall would recommend, but make sure to book a table!

We had a better experience at lunchtime compared to Saturday evening. The evening seemed to have the staff under pressure to get people in to tables and served. We had to wait to be acknowledged, then till a table was cleared for us and then had to chase again to get our order taken. Despite this we were served the complementary salad starter right away. A bit of a wait after we finished that. The surf and turf was good, really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is noisy, hectic, in a small area. The back door was propped open for ventilation.The afternoon lunch was more of what you would expect in terms of service. The food was good too, value for your money. Clearly Saturday evenings are too busy for the staff on duty.

Chez Jules is a fantastic place to eat! It is extremely good value and the quality of food directly corresponds to the popularity of the restaurant. I came twice during a three day stay in Edinburgh as the food was so delicious. I highly recommend the mussels and the crepe suzette!The staff here at Chez Jules must be commended. They were slightly understaffed - not their fault at all, and is unsurprising given the circumstances of the current global pandemic - but every member of staff was extremely attentive and pleasant.The manager in particular was so professional and efficient - she handled everything extremely well, even when two customers decided to skip the queue of people and seat themselves without notifying any of the staff and were then belligerent and somewhat rude when told that they were supposed to wait. The manager provided excellent service and clearly helped the fantastic team of staff run smoothly.Thank you for giving us such a wonderful time in Edinburgh!

A cozy restaurant near to the main road and located in 3 steps down to the basement floor. You can't see this restaurant from the ground floor, but the big yellow sign-board of Chez Jules you won't be missed it from the little front entrance.They served French cuisine, reasonable portions with reasonable price, and they served daily something special of the day! The foods taste is not authentic French but not bad for the price you have paid , little funky atmosphere and light up with many candles on each table in the day time, friendly staffs, they checked temperature and registered of every walk in customers.
