Absolutely amazing spot with brilliant staff and the reason we went in was that we need to use a toilet and they were very welcoming .. so we decided to stay and have food and drink spent most of the afternoon there drinking outside in the sun... What a weekend in Edinburgh

·

Fantastic location, great atmosphere, helpful staff, & still maintains the historic atmosphere. Disabled toilets xlean & roomy So wanted to take photos of the murals but reflection from the light made this so difficult. Would be great if the pub sold postcards please.

Cosy pub in the heart of Edinburgh. We decided to go after reading reviews. When we arrived, the staff greeted us and told us the restaurant was upstairs. When we went upstairs it was a bit dirty (especially the ladies and men toilet was really dirty). The staff welcome us but did not ask us if we had any allergies. We had a fish platter which was really good to share. Our mains were not good, especially my steak was extremely dry and not with flavour plenty of garlic. It was inedible and the chips were very oily. The salmon main had bones and was not tasty. The salad and salmon bowl had no olive oil it was dry. Our drinks were full of ice cubes. We where really un happy with the food, drinks and the hygiene of the pub.I would not recommend this place to anyone

We stumbled upon this gem whilst trying to find somewhere to eat and get out of the cold. The staff were lovely, food was delicious and definitely get your money's worth. I would highly recommend trying this place out, especially with a good selection of gins!

·

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. We had difficulty choosing since everything on the menu sounded so good. The place seems to be busy on a regular basis so we were lucky to get a table. Can recommend the haggis and sticky toffee pudding.

·

Nice little pub on the Royal mile, Good spot for good old fish & chips and a pint. Not a bad sized portion for £15. Friendly and welcoming.👍

·

Friendly and welcoming. Delicious food, grabbed some snacks and drinks. Mac and cheese is wonderful, good portions. Side salad is a small but a perfect size, one of the best salads I’ve had. Drinks are good. Nice and comfortable inside.

·

Absolutely lovely and cosy pub in the heart of Edinburgh. Staff are very professional and welcoming, allow patrons and visitors/passers-by alike to use their restrooms. Lovely and possibly one of the coolest artistic decor and ceilings I've ever seen.Definitely worth visiting.

·

Historical place. Come and find out which famous English writer used t come there. Friendly and polite staff, good and fresh food. I tried traditional Scottish dessert mmmm, delicious.Comfy atmosphere.

·

Really lovely pub with amazing friendly staff. I only had dessert and coffee but the food that was coming out looked just as great as my sticky toffee pudding. Thank you for suggesting ice cream instead of custard.👍💯
