Down the Hatch in Edinburgh

This Canadian themed bar is a nice little find on Leith Walk not far from the Playhouse (opposite side of road). Nice and friendly atmosphere (well it is the Canadian way 😄) and staff with good food at reasonable prices. Highly recommend the Buffalo Fries if ordering a side and the burgers and cheese steaks are also worth mentioning! 👍

Always ordered home delivery from this place as they do the best buffalo wings in town. Decided to stop in as we were looking for somewhere to eat for a special occasion and everywhere else in Edinburgh was closed on a Monday. Staff were good and food was okay, (buffalo wings were great as usual) but the whole experience was ruined at the end by a mouse that was openly, confidently and nonchalantly running around the dining space at the back. (Please check the cameras for 06/06/22 at around 10pm). We just paid and left as quickly as possible as this made us both feel sick after eating a whole meal from here. Also cocktails are overpriced, they are priced the same as a cocktail bar where you are paying for the experience to justify the mark up, £10 for a drink in a water tumbler is too high. Disappointed that I can’t eat from this place again.

Poutine!!! In the UK. Yes please. Best I've had outside Canada. Also had buffalo wings which were delicious, but... they were particularly salty. My tongue couldn't taste much else for about an hour afterwards. Great otherwise and hope it was just a one off case of over-enthusiasm with the seasoning.

This is a Canadian themed diner which was really busy and popular. Good beer and burgers. Dirty fries and solven?? (Baggetts) are amazing. We went twice! I'm not sure if it is anywhere else but worth hunting out when in Edinburgh.

Wednesday is wings day. We ordered special wings and Korean wings which I heard were the best item on the menu in here. Unfortunately, both wings were super salty and therefore it was difficult to eat them. The double cheeseburger was delicious and went along really well with the chips and sauce however the patty was a bit dry and cooked too well.

This is new to me!Never tried this before, but glad we did. It's a Canadian themed place that burger with a meat based menu but with a slight twist that comes thru on the tasty food. The beer is different as well, we tried a peach IPA.Al in all, highly recommended, not to be missed, as I have done in the past and highly enjoyable 😀

First time in the new joint for down the hatch. It was awesome. Probably the best wings I've ever had( which is a bold statement I know) Korean bbq 😋 the steak fries were great too and an alcoholic milkshake to top things off 10/10Also the staff were great

The best American and Canadian classics you'll get in Scotland.Very reasonable price range this was actually on discount, it may be a lunchtime deal the savings where a lot so i recommends ordering at these times.If you're at omni center or the theatre for a show please get over here before or after a movie or show.Most if the places to eat in this area are pretty standard, down the hatch is many levels above the restaurants that are near it....many levels.

We have been to the SQ DTH on a number of occasions, and hasn't ever disappointed. We did lunch at the Antigua St restaurant during summer, and sat outside. Food was good, but didn't get the whole experience. Last night we sat inside for a friend's birthday, and it was absolutely top notch! The burgers were as usual, excellent. Cocktails and margaritas, amazing. Beef dip as a first try was unreal. Wings, again, awesome. And then we ended up getting our food for free courtesy of Mastercard and OpenTable! A great end to a great night! And the staff were outstanding! Really great service from friendly people. 👏

Came here on our last evening in Edinburgh. We wanted to try this place when last time we were here but didn't manage to fit it in. NOW WE WISH WE HAD! Down The Hatch interior is bright and different! The Staff are friendly and fun! Kasey was brilliant and nothing was a problem! Definitely a 10/10 waiter! And the food... The food is delicious! Get me a flight to Canada RIGHT NOW!
