Fantastic curry here - great "Elephant ear" naan bread - not a problem but be aware they don't have a liquor license - there is a Co-op within a 2 minute walk where you can stock up beforehand

Booked this during the week with friends. Love the food I ordered. Afghani charishi gosht along with the gigantic naan. Very tasty. We where last ones out staff was very patient with us. I will be back again withy family. It was lovely to see the owner to come out to say hello.

The best halal restaurant and dry bar in Scotland! We were blown away by the service, cocktails and of course food. Reasonably priced and catering to every palette, our children also enjoyed the food and were kept entertained by the friendly staff and colouring books. They really do go the extra mile and offer to every taste palette. We met the owners, a very warm and welcoming couple. They both ensured we had a great stay in Edinburgh with the wealth of knowledge on places to visit during the Christmas break.We went four times in one week and will not hesitate in going again and again. My personal favourite was the kabuli pilau, gourmet burgers and pinacolada.Well done and thank you to the Guru for taking us on this gastronomical adventure! We are a very happy family of four returning back to London. I cannot recommend this place enough and give the Guru 5 stars! Definitely a must-go-to place. You will not regret it, I promise. Having a very high standard for Indian food, I was certainly not disappointed with the food. Service was also really good, nice friendly staff. A special thankyou to Wasim and his team@theguru for a great meal, great chat and overall one of the best experiences I have had when eating out.

superb place and food with very nice and welcoming staff of this restaurant. highly recommend the Indian style food of this place, caveat to the Nan if you're ordering as it's tooooo big for a person to finish but tastes awesome. if you're staying in Edinburgh city, do give them a visit. thanks

We been going to the guru for a few years now. They moved from Dundee Terrace to Gilmore place. The new restaurant is a lot bigger and it’s done to a good standard. But the acoustics are very loud when is full. The food menu has changed and they no longer do Biriani what is a shame I think. We got there at 7pm and did not start eating or mane Food till 8.51pm. And they even didn’t bring the hole order then we had to ask for it a few times. The staff went to sent up for Maine dinner before we got our starters so we had to say we not had starters yet. They staff keep dropping plates of food and glasses all over the restaurant I counted 5 smashes. They added a service charge to our bill as I was with friends we just paid it but I did not see anything on the menu to say they would do this. Over all the food was nice, The staff were not overly friendlyThey took too long and obviously can’t cope when it’s busy, I don’t think I’ll be going back there again any time soon. Bit of a shame really.

Out of all the Desi restaurants I’ve been to in Edinburgh, I would definitely consider Guru to be the top Desi restaurant in the city. The food is outstanding, the staff treat you like family and they make you feel at home
