Hadrian's Brasserie at The Balmoral in Edinburgh

One of my favourite places to eat when in Edinburgh an amazing relaxed atmosphere and top quality service from all the staff working there. I wanted to give a special shout out to Katsia who was looking after us , she was very kind and attentive. A great way to end our trip.

My friend and I just popped in for a drink after a late lunch. Very enjoyable, only negative they didn't have the gin I requested. Enjoyable snacks and good service 👌

My wife and I were looking to see what the hotel was that this brasserie was in. A member of staff came out to say hello and invited us in to have a quick look around. Decided to have a drink whilst there. Very attentive staff, lovely setting and prices less than anticipated.

We came here on the end of my Birthday weekend and loved it. We had a train to catch but popped in for a drink and nibbles. It's been a dream of mine to visit The Balmoral and now we are planning to revisit at Christmas. The ambiance and service were wonderful and the live pianist was superb- who new Radio Head could sound so good on a baby grand and I got a bit emotional when he played There must be an Angel. Added bonus of log fire, 30's decor and fresh flowers.

My absolute favourite place (when in Edinburgh) is The Brasserie Prince inside The Balmoral Hotel. I adore the Classic Fish Pie with Fries on the side and the only dessert for me is the Crème Brûlée. I may of eaten a few of these in my time and by far the best I have eaten is most certainly here at The Brasserie Prince. A delicious lunch meant a Sunday wellspent and I will always look forward to visiting, and eating, here again soon! 🤩

I unfortunately have to retract my previously positive review.I visit this place quite often for a few drinks and to chill, but last night I was REFUSED ENTRY! at 17,45 and with plenty of empty tables!I called at Prince at 17,45 asking for a quick table for one. I was told they were taking only reservations and no walk-ins that night. I tried to say I would be quick, the person at the door (a gentleman) repeated and even said "AS I SAID, we are only taking reservations tonight".I was appalled. It was 17,45, a lot of the tables were empty and I have been at this place before on Fridays and Saturdays as a walk-in at even busier times and they have always found me a spot, if not, they offered a spot at the bar.I have never noticed particularly well-dressed people in this environment. I, myself, have never come here dressed as if I were going to the gala.BUT, you know what? Last night I was wearing the coat in the picture, with jeans and loafers. My hair was tied up in a ponytail and I was wearing no make-up. I guess I didn't look glamorous? Not feminine enough? With a big chunky coat and jeans?I am appalled. I wasn't born yesterday.This doesn't seem to me like the country where appeareances matter (and, for that one, there's jeans fetching at £2000....). Do they treat in the same way someone who might have saved the entire month or year to come treat themselves there? Just because they're not fancily appearing?It just feels horrible to be discriminated against. On top of that, I was and am depressed and wanted to just have a chill time in a place I kinda like. Whatever.

Superb food, lovely relaxed and discreet atmosphere and attentive team throughout. We also enjoyed cocktails in the bar afterwards. Thoroughly recommended.

Really good food!! Fantastic service and a very enjoyable experience. A great way to end our trip in Edinburgh. We have always wanted to visit the Balmoral hotel so this was memorable for us, thank you!

We visited for dine and bar. Regarding dine, food was delicious, and service was attentive. Regarding bar, service was attentive, taste was excellent! And There is also non-alcoholic cocktail menu!

This week, we enjoyed lunch at the Brasserie Prince to take advantage of their 'Dine Out To Help Out More' menu (a special menu they have running throughout September).We knew it would be a 3-course meal, however, what we didn't realise was that there would be 2 options per course to choose from. So, when we sat down and read the menu, the smartest option was to order both menu items from each course, so that we could have a taste of everything and avoid making the tough decision on what to have!The taste of each dish was amazing, exactly the quality you would expect from a restaurant within The Balmoral, but what we were most pleasantly surprised by during our dining experience was the portion size. Usually, high-end dining carries with it the stigma of small, unfilling plates, however, this could not be less the case with Brasserie Prince. When you consider that all 3 courses are only £20pp (normally £30pp), it's a steal!The service provided by each member of staff we encountered was impeccable, whether it was topping up our wine and water glasses in the restaurant, explaining parts of the menu to us that we weren't too sure about, or providing recommendations for drinks at the bar - we couldn't fault them and they most certainly made our trip even more memorable.
