Hakataya in Edinburgh

Perfect place for a great ramen. The place is a little bit tiny, but the atmosphere is right and the food is delicious. The whiskey selection is also great, the have Nikka, which is always a big plus. I'm pretty sure I am coming back the next time I visit Edinburgh.

Best Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh. I've been in Japan and this place reminds me of it, every time I'm there. Lovely menu, lovely food and lovely service. Will definitely come back.

Great vegetarian options, vegan too.The food quality was exceptional! The inari nigiri was delicious. The atmosphere was slow paced and relaxing. Not a quick done in experience but well worth it.I did find a hair on my food but I did eat it anyway (after removing it) and I didn't raise it with the staff (who looked very clean).In covid terms it is a small premises and the tables are close together.Price was well worth it with the quality of food served. Each dish below was £14.95!

Great tonkotsu. Lovely broth. Sushi was nice, nothing amazing but it was fresh. Karage chicken also good. Spiced tea was wonderful

Must try for authentic Japanese cuisine. Was really taken back by how lovely the food was, tried ramen for the first time and was amazing. Nice little hideaway a must visit 🍜.

Was looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh and I was not disappointed! The ramen was some of the best I've ever tried. The restaurant is small and quite cozy, and the service was fast and very friendly. Will definitely go again next time I'm in this city!

Sushi is good quality and great value. Good selection of drinks and the hell ramen taste amazing for anyone who likes their food spicy.

It’s a relative small restaurant so better making a reservation if it’s a popular time. The staff was nice and so was the indoor atmosphere, quiet and peaceful. Ordered tonkotsu ramen and miso ramen. Surprisingly the miso ramen was quite spicy, tofu and the ingredients were quite a lot but the broth was just fine, not a big fan. The tonkotsu was good and soup was slightly oily. It’s hidden in a lane in the new town, lovely place.The owner’s story could be found on their website and quite an interesting read during the wait.

Best ramen we’ve ever had. Amazing truly. Big portions and good prices, service was fast and the lady that served us was so friendly. Definitely a must try in Edinburgh.

Good food, sushi rolls were poorly rolled and too big, but did taste nice, pumpkin katsu and vegan ramen were delicious
