Great service, food and cocktails. Cool views out onto the city and sea too.

Had a brilliant night for my nephew's birthday. Food, service, and view were tremendous. I left my phone by accident, with my cards, cash etc.in the phone case. It was handed in by a lady, who I wish I could thank personally, and a staff member called my husband and kept my phone secure until my nephew picked it up for me today. All cash etc was untouched. Huge thanks to all.

We had afternoon tea here: two with the champagne option, one without. The online order form was straightforward, although I had to request a window table in the notes - it would be better to have a tick box for this. On arrival, we were welcomed and escorted to a large table by a window with wonderful views over St Andrew Square gardens and beyond, to the Castle, across the historic New Town, and North to the Forth estuary and the hills of Fife beyond. Our friendly, attentive waiter checked our requirements (one vegetarian, two non-vegetarians) and brought the champagne, and the tea for the non-drinker. He then brought an enormous stand with the plates of food and described everything. The savouries were delicious: a mini brioche, a little pot of potato and beetroot (with salmon for the non-veggies), a little caramelised onion quiche. The scones with cream and jam looked good, but I slipped mine so that I could enjoy the cakes. The highlight of the cakes was probably the little pot of incredibly rich chocolate cream, which was accompanied by a lemon tart and a wee carrot cake. There was a decent, but not huge, selection of teas and coffees. The surroundings were airy and pleasant and service was efficient and unobtrusive. We enjoyed walking round the food hall afterwards, browsing the selection of gins, whiskies and wines, along with an intriguing collection of sophisticated non-alcoholic drinks.A pleasant place for an afternoon tea celebration, decent food, outstanding and memorable views

Visited here a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised. 3 course set menu with a cocktail £28. Fantastic value and the food was superb. Cocktails were some of the best we've had in a long time. The picture of the pork belly main dish doesn't do it justice, it was wonderful. Great views across Edinburgh too if the weather is nice. Give it a try, for those prices, you've nothing to lose.

Highly recommend a visit for lunch, very tasty fresh, elegant food. Service was quick, attentive and very friendly. Must visit for the view over Andrew square if visiting Edinburgh for a few days. Great also as a brunch place with excellent drink options.

Great food and and amazing terrace. The summer menu was delicious. The prices are high as expected, for example I wouldn't pay £15 for an aubergine salad but the 3 course summer menu for £28 including cocktails is well priced considering the location and quality. The staff was well paced and things arrived on time. I'm giving 4 stars because the seats outside were uncomfortable. They are wooden small seats with very little back support. Overall, it is a nice location with good food. I would recommend the terrace on a rare sunny day!

The Forth Floor is a delight in the afternoon/early evening around sunset. It has a balcony and great views overlooking St. Andrews Square, and down towards the coast at New Haven. There is a great selection of cocktails and fizz, though prices, as one might expect, can be quite high. Worth a visit for sure.

The mac and chess tasted good but traditional (7£). The chicken ballotin was ok (11£). It might be more suited for afternoon tea while enjoying the fresh air in this relaxing outdoor space. There are plenty of options for afternoon tea or desserts on the menu.

Afternoon tea was lovely. Selection of savoury and sweet food was delicious and something a bit different from sandwiches. Unlimited teas and coffees. Service was outstanding, very professional and attentive. Views from the rooftop are of course a huge plus for this venue too.
