The best food and great caramel late 🤩 the food is so delicious, that we came back before the end of our trip.

Very friendly staff, tasty food, and reasonable prices. Sandwiches around 5 pounds. Would come again!

This lovely little cafe serves up a gorgeous breakfast, choose from Scottish, British or the L’Etoile. They also serve lunch items. AND they will make the whole thing gluten free so for mine this meant sub in different sausage and toast -wow-super cool! Perhaps the best part for me: an entire shelf of beautiful GLUTEN FREE pastries!!! The rest of my family are not gluten free and they agree the offerings here are delish! As a celiac I can not recommend this café enough. They have multiple gluten free alternatives, both meals and desserts. I had the most amazing experience with their food, and the raspberry lemon tart is the most divine gluten-free tart I’ve ever eaten. Please, please, please! If you are celiac or gluten free, you can’t miss this spot!

Absolutely loved the intricately made pastries here! They’re all home made and not too sweet. We went there back to back in two days and would have gone again if we weren’t leaving Edinburgh! Prices were very reasonable too. Highly recommend!

Delicious and original French pastries, a hidden gem.You may miss the entrance to this little Salon de Tea on your way to the more conspicuous restaurants and cafes in the neighbouring Grassmarket, but l’Etoile is a hidden gem. With amazing French pastries and desserts. You can play it safe with the croissants, pain au chocolate, and quiches. But I would recommend being more adventurous and try the entremets, those mini cakes with layers of amazing flavours surrounded by mousse and covered by shining glaze and fruits. A multilayered experience of colours and flavours in a guilt-free size. If you try the “White Gold” with fresh raspberries and the exceptional “La ronde-Gianduia” you will not be disappointed. Not too sweet, but better accompanied with an unsweetened drink. Plenty of gluten free options. Good coffee too.

Popped in here after a castle tour. Warm welcome and both owner and waitress were very nice. Coffee was good but tarts were... formidable! We had a raspberry tart and a chocolate hazelnut one. Both were amazing!Very relaxed atmosphere where you can just sit back and enjoy a coffee and treat.

An hidden gem in Edinburg that you don't want to miss.This little cafe next to the Grassmarket is just amazing. I had the opportunity to try various cakes and have breakfast nearly every day of vacation.I specifically appreciate the attention to every little details. The quality of food was also superior, you definitely don't want to miss it.I special note for the staff that is extremely friendly and remembered all my personal tastes across multiple days. If I'll visit Edinburg again, this is definitely on top of my list.
