Miro's Cantina in Edinburgh

We've visited here many many times and I ALWAYS recommend my friends to visit here when they're going to Edinburgh. The food is always great and the service is normally good too. We visited on Saturday and honestly had the WORST experience. About a month in advance, I had messaged on their Instagram to book a table of 4 which they had said was fine. About 10 minutes after, I had messaged again to increase it to a table of 6, which again they said was fine. On the day of the booking, we were 15 minutes late (life happens, traffic happens) and we apologised to the waitress for being late. We gave the booking name and she told us it was a booking for 4 people, not 6. I showed her the Instagram messages and she said "fine, but I need the table back by half 7" (our booking was for 6pm).... excuse me, this is where you should apologise for messing up the booking and then figure out how to remedy the situation, it shouldn't be up to us just to eat quickly!! We got on with the meal, however we were reminded many many times that we had to be quick as the next table were coming (I've got no idea what made the next table more important than us). Our food was barely finished and our drinks were nowhere near finished and we got brought the bill without asking for it, again being reminded that we needed to leave. By this stage I had totally had enough and told the manager/ owner that our experience had been awful and not what we normally experienced there, so I would expect a discount to apologise. I've never in my life asked for a discount in a restaurant, but this experience really did ruin the night. His response was to take the bill from £265 to £255.... he obviously wasn't very sorry! I said that if that's all he was willing to do then he could take the £25 service charge off too as the service had been shocking. He put his foot down and said that tables of 6 always have to have a service charge - funny how he's happy to treat us like a table of 6 when it benefits him! We paid, he brought us shots of tequila and again told us it was time to leave. Absolutely shocking experience and I'm gutted to not be going back. It wasn't our fault that they had the wrong booking details, but it was made to feel like our fault. I appreciate that we were 15 minutes late, but I would have expected a minimum of 2 hours for our booking (taking us to 8pm) which would have been fine. I also appreciate that there was another booking after us, but again this isn't our problem. This is up to the manager to solve (e.g. by offering a good discount or voucher for next time, taking responsibility for their error and apologising).

Totally wow! But, be prepared portions and huge. We've underestimated our capabilities in terms of eating and had to take 3/4 with us.:DBut food is delicious, we've ordered:- small chili con carne nachos- deviled chicken strips and- lamb tacosCan't wait to come back, thanks to extremely nice staff!!!

Very good, relatively small restaurant. Food absolutely delicious, but be careful how much you order - portions are veeery generous, we had to ask to pack some of our food, as it wasn't possible for us to eat it all on one attempt!Everything about this place was 10/10 including very friendly crew, highly recommended

Lovely visit to Miros on a cold Sunday afternoon. The warming atmosphere and amazing food and cocktails were the perfect tonic. Would recommend highly

I went here for my birthday last Saturday. They accommodated 7 of us as a last minute booking made the night before. We all really enjoyed our meals and drinks. We had a bit of fun with the staff too. Will definitely go back.

Me and my sister came here last weekend, it was absolutely gorgeous. Such a cute little place. The food was just amazing, I highly recommend the king prawn fajitas they were the best I've ever had. The wine was great, perfect atmosphere and the staff were lovely. I highly recommend you try and you must book before you go, we saw many be turned away as it isn't huge and its so busy on a weekend. I will definitely be returning when I come back to Edinburgh.

Can't give this place enough praise without worrying more people are going to find this hidden treasure. Amazing food and service

Good tasting food. Very nice drinks even the non alcohol ones. But only giving 3 starts because I think it's very overpriced place. 1 alcohol, 2 non alcohol drinks and 2 dishes and 1 extra sauce on the side costed over £50!

Really really disappointed, I think this place used to be good from what I heard from other people who have been. The gentleman who served us didn't smile once or care we were there but was cracking jokes with middle aged woman at another table. The chef would smoke cigarettes across the street from where you were eating (we were outside) which is just not what you do.The food was bland and waaaay overpriced. Prawn tacos that were nearly £20, you get 4 prawns in soft tortillas and shredded veg and rice. It's not even enjoyable to eat. No love whatsoever. It's one of those situations you feel like leaving without giving a tip but don't worry gratuity is included.Me and my partner had, tortilla chips with one of each dip to start, roughly £8 not much dip but the tortillas were good (doubt they are homemade however). I had the prawn tacos, she had enchiladas (better option than the tacos for sure) a frozen margarita each and I had another beer. Margarita was sweet and tasty enough but not much alcohol inside and unfortunately was mostly melted already.When I asked for a recommendation of a good Mexican beer towards the end he brought me a desperados. If you Google desperados, you'll understand why I think he was taking the piss.To top it off, somehow the bill came to just over £65. Ok, at this point I think this place is definitely taking the piss.I give this place my stamp of "AVOID".There are far far better Mexican eateries in Edinburgh.
